    Question Posts disappearing from Google

So I ran this experiment on new keywords last weekend. Three of my posts never showed up in Google's index. I linked them on social bookmarking sites, I personally fetched them 3 times and manually index-ed them via Google Webmasters, and nothing happened.

However when I check the traffic the following day, I had over 1300 UVS from Google on those posts, which means they must have been there and must have been visible.

I have some for this Friday, I could see them on Tuesday, but can't anymore. My first thought was de-indexed most like not, well can't say before Friday.

Any particular reason for this to be happening? I even tried looking with scroogle and stuff and still couldn't see them.

All right , well despite the fact that event passed and a good amount of traffic entered I still can't see these: http://e-sportbets.org/watch-sportin...ree-streaming/ ; http://e-sportbets.org/watch-tottenh...ree-streaming/ ; http://e-sportbets.org/watch-everton...ree-streaming/. Plus the 3 new ones.

Together all 3 brought traffic of 1431 UVs from Google alone, on the keywords, 'watch the name of the game live' or online.

I'd assume this is to do with the results not being indexed on all of the Google data centres, potentially the ones you are accessing. Each data centre (to my knowledge) has to update individually, they do not do it as a collective. Could have just been the lag with one in particular...

In case anyone is interested in where they are: http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology...ding-locations

Could be wrong, seem to be getting less SEO sharp every day

I see, wouldn't it be weird for the datacenter that serves me, to be still missing those posts a week after their publishing?

Wow a week? That probably blows my theory with data centres.

Just to clarify, when you say that you can't see them, do you mean that they are not indexed at all or you can't see them for the keyword traffic is coming for?

On a separate note, I wouldn't be surprised if one of them visitors looking for the Tottenham vs Arsenal game was me!

I mean I can't see them on the keyword that the traffic is coming from. And now that you mentioned it, I do see it if I include my website's title, which proves that they are indeed indexed?

It's just that according to google webmaster tools the average position is 3.3, and the rest of the posts were around there top 3, makes it odd for me not to see this post in top 1000 (and even beyond that).

Say that they are indexed, but I can't see them on the specific keywords, what seems to be the problem then? Not to mention that I saw them rank1 yesterday and now they are gone.

Yep that means there indexed, always do a 'site:http://www.url.com/example.html' search to find out whether Google has found it but has not decided to rank it.

There is so many reasons this could have happened, hard to nail although check your analytics and you could narrow it down, the most obvious to me are the following:

    • Location - search engines could have ranked it in a specific location for a while, just not in yours.
    • Again with the data centres, it could have jumped up in 1 or 2 data centres for a while.
    • Google Webmaster tools frequently lacks behind, it just so happens that when they updated you were ranking highly.

Maybe look at your analytics in hourly view, did it spike at any point and then calm down or is it consistent throughout the days?

I'm wondering whether certain word's like 'live streaming' etc. combined with a specific date indicate that it is no longer relevant (you don't stream a past event). Google probably isn't that clever though!

Competitors posts still show up. The spike is on the date of the game, perhaps an hour before the game. This is mostly because people will not be likely searching for a game a week earlier.

The above command site: shows it indexed. The upcoming posts also do not show up as ranked, but do show up as indexed, with the site: command. There's already traffic on them, from the previous days.

google seems to have picked them up 4-5 days ago, and has even marked them in the SERPs as '5days ago'

What keyword were u targeting for similar previous traffic.. and which country?

Watch ...... live and watch ....... online, most of the traffic came from there, most of the traffic for tomorrow is expected to come from those as well again. Traffic was mixed, but goes in this order UK, US , Serbia, Canada, Italy, Sweden, Spain. I usually strive for UK traffic, as the book advertised, offers only UK streaming on those game, and it's the only licensed book to stream Premier League.

A little update, seems like all posts were showing a few hours before the events. A total of 2100 UVs and each post got a good amount of Google visits, which means they must have been somewhere there, even though I did not see them.

Strange thing GA even tracker showed like 3 outbound clicks, when the real number is over 1000. I am currently using the Google Analyticator addon for wordpress and seems to be screwing up or something. Anyone using some similar plugin that actually tracks via GA outbound clicks?

Interesting stuff xecutable, maybe keep records and note if you see a consistent pattern.

I'm not using a Wordpress tracker for anything but I do input the code into my links manually and have them set up as goals in Analytics, assuming an outbound click is a goal. Slightly long-winded way of doing things however never got on well with any of the tools or plugins for GA.

Let me know if you want to know a bit more and I'll PM you a link.

Yes please, anything that doesn't report that I have 3 clicks when it's realistically above 400. I was told the difference is a little, but in my case, it's a great gap. And please call me Mitko, ha ha, .exe doesn't really cut it for me It's a nickname from the old times when I used to code and had an obsession for .exe (hence executable files).

here is a guide directly from Google - http://www.google.com/support/analyt...y?answer=72712

Admittedly, it is a bit of a pain in the a*se to implement initially, maybe give it a quick go and see if you like how it reports. I've never really done anything different and links on my affiliate sites are built like this from the start. Interesting to see which keywords (despite sending little traffic) actually convert for you, perfect for traffic optimisation.

In fact, I think I've used a few examples of this in the whitepaper which no one in my old company can seem to find so far!

If those pages are getting visitors from Google, they must be indexed and showing up somewhere (even if you can't find them yourself through manual searching). Sounds like some fantastic traffic you are getting, especially for new pages
