    Default Practice vs. Real

Sorry if this is the wrong section, or even wrong forum for this question but I was wondering if it was normal for practice games to play massively different than when playing for real?

I won't name the online casino, but I wanted to test how their roulette played by playing the same numbers. In the practice games it was really successful, I did this multiple times for different durations, and it was the same all the time.

When it came to the real thing it was completely different, not a case of a bad run, something else going on. I'm not sure if the practice game is fixed to suck you in (I suspect so), so my question's is this a normal and/or an acceptable practice?

I don't care about losing a little bit of money, I care more about being duped. I signed out afterwards, cleared my browser data etc. and the game went back to playing in the generous way it does when your not playing for real money.

    P.S. it's a big name casino btw

I don't think it is normal, but I know some of them do. If they do not play the same, then you are been duped. Some state that they play differently in demo mode, but not all of them do. Of course you might win in demo mode, then lose in real mode even if they are on the same settings, you are also likely to bet differently whilst playing in demo mode as the fear of losing isn't there.
If they are misleading you like this, I wouldn't trust them with real money. If you are not sure, email the casino or use their live chat to check.

What big name casino was it?

Sky Vegas. I made a little video, could only record 3 minutes on my tablet but I managed to win £27 in that short amount of time

    link removed

I'll contact them, as I can't see anywhere that says the demo/real mode plays differently.

Mas, you have NOT found a secret to easy money.

As most games can be set at the backend with a payout percentage to affect gameplay I would not be surprised if the demo mode games were set at 100% payout (or close to returning money) to result in the game seeming to be easy money.

When you play casino games for REAL MONEY you should not expect such generosity, and the longer you play the more likely it is that you will be down overall. The laws of probability, particularly around large numbers (playing many games) are quite fixed and it usually doesn't end well for the average casino / games punter.

As far as I am aware, Sky Vegas games play the same in demo as they do in real mode.
Most are on around 95%, so you get a good game for your money anyway. You could always email them to ask.

You have to offer demo games with the same RTP as real money games if they are being used to advertise the real money version for legal reasons. I'd be shocked if a legitimate operator was doing otherwise.

I did email them, they said they do play the same in demo/real mode. How would I prove otherwise, statistically speaking I mean, say make 100 bets in a row? I was thinking of making 0.01p bets, then at least I'd only lose a few quid proving my point... but would there be any point?

This could be a key pointer, and affects pretty much anybody who ever plays free games. Generally you don't approach with the same mindset, there is no risk, and it's actually very difficult to force yourself to approach it as if there was really some of your own cash at stake. One early big winning bet with free cash could put a whole different perspective on it (a misleading one).

Having said that, personally would not be surprised to find out there is some skullduggery in it all somewhere.

You would need 1000's of spins, probably 10 x 1000's of spins before you would have anything statistically significant.

And even then, with just two samples variation still occurs.

Think of all the people you know that play lotto - a game that is definately not rigged - and think of the different experiences each play has had just through random variation.

I believe the demo slots offered by RTG casinos offer the same payout as they do in real mode.

Which is why I don't post the demo games on my sites.

They are literally the worst I've ever seen.

Maybe 1 win every 10 spins and maybe 1 win over a buck every 20 - 30 or so spins.
