Is it jst me or is pagerank a pain in the ***** ?

'Scuse my French. I had a pagerank of one ( laugh if you want ) I was very proud. I installed the googlebar on my IE and now I noticed that my rank is Zero. I have gone on a mildly crazy linking camp. and still nothing.

Is it normal to fall just like that?

Yup

It happens. You may have triggered a bit of a rearrange by fully redesigning your front page. If I make wholesale changes, I budget to lose hits and PR for a while although I do it because I project a gain in the medium to long term.

Another thing though is that the PR in the toolbar is said not to be accurate and just indicates what google wants us to see. Same I believe goes for backlinks. You may well already be a PR3 but you will only see that maybe on the next update which could be in as many as 2 months time

you gotta love this business

I have seen some sites that sell backlinks (pr4-5+) but, my spidersenses are tingling.

I have also read about seo's and unethical seo's, now I am so confused cause some state that you could pay for ethical seo's and not gain any ranking with competative keywords.

I have thought about listing my page on one of those sites that list other sites ( don't know what you call them ) but, once again I have been warned against that too.

There is no need to go so far as to hire others to do the work. It is a bit of a gamble on its own but the basics are there for all to see. It's all about balance and NOT triggering a filter!
