Spam score is a metric sold by an internet marketing company called MOZ. It has no relevance to ranking websites in Google SERPs; which has its own internal proprietary anti-spam detection and scoring measures.

Linkexchanges wouldn't help rank a website better. At best, they can help Google find your site, which it can in a variety of other ways.

    Hi,

It is not related to the Google algorithms at all. Just one of the "marketing-based" terms which we should not rely on.

    Cheers!

I'd rather say 5 is high. 3 is quite ok.

I agree that someone showing up with a 5 score sets off red flags in my mind. I see a 3 and I'm investigating further too. Zero and one are what I typically see for legitimate affiliate websites that aren't out there selling/buying links, doing blackhat, etc.
