    GOOGLE SPORTS ODDS :
    --------------------------------
I'm not sure what to think about Google displaying odds - with the odds probably sponsored by the site being promoted.

My first thought is that it's another example of the paid ads listings, albeit with contextual information, and is an acceptable development in a free-market environment. Sure I recognise that it's competition - but advertising on Google results is hardly a new thing.

And it is added value to the reader.

For example when I type "Movies in Levin New Zealand" which is the closest town to my location then as well as listing websites - I get a strip of movies that are on. That's another example of additional info for the reader - and added value.

    ( see https://www.google.co.nz/search?q=fo...in+new+zealand )

I think the key takeaway for sports affiliates is that the environment is always changing, and search engines are not neutral, so working on developing a brand so that you are not reliant on search engine traffic only to money keywords is essential.
