    Default Revenue Share

I am a complete Newbie here and have a question in regards Revenue Share.

I have queried a payment on my account. The player deposited €820, I am on 35% rev share, he lost the whole €820 yet my payment is only €178. I have questioned it and been told

"the player deposited 820 euros and he generated 510.29 euros in net revenue. The commission is 35% revenue share of the net revenue generated by the player, unfortunately it is not of the looses"

My question is, nearly 38% has been taken from the deposits before we come to the Net Revenue. Surely that cannot be right? I have looked online and Slotland take 15%, surly 38% is wrong.

Thanks for holding my hand on this one

Some casinos have huge fees/"fees" that they deduct before NGR. 38% is high but low compared to for example Videoslots that deduct way way more than 38%. By adding more and more fees every year the casinos earns more and more money and the affiliates less and less. It is sneaky but that is how this industry works.

By adding fees instead of lowering the rev share percentage the casinos can grab more money without the majority of the affiliates noticing.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

By sheer coincidence I have just had a payment for another Casino via Trada Affiliates. That player lost similar amount and they have taken €3.40 for fees. Wonder which one I will be pushing.

Another decreasing factor may be a casino promo (bonuses given), probably they give some huge bonuses on registration/first deposit

You are new - and you've had a quick first lesson.

You have been attracted by a nice high HEADLINE of 35% net revenue - without understanding what costs they will charge to reduce gross revenue.
That 38% taken off the top is high but not unheard of. If you want specific advice then name the program.

Different programs will charge all sorts of acquisition costs to the player - including :
    - deposit costs (up to 8% with CC)
    - admin costs (varies from 0-25%)
    - licensing and royalty coast on casino games (up to 25%)
    - special regional gambling taxes (eg UK has 15% POCT, Austria has 40%)
    - Some other sort of fee that you and I can't even imagine.

35% from net revenue adds up to a lot less than 35%. You've got bonuses, VAT, handling fees and much more deducted before reaching the actual net revenues. It's annoying but this is the reality.

When promoting a casino or program be sure to look at the entire package. Consider rev share and fees but also look at what they really have to offer you as a webmaster. Are they responsive to your questions? Will they provide unique media for your site? Are exclusive offers available for you etc? Be sure to review the terms & conditions thoroughly, you could be working hard to promote a site to only have your account closed due to inactivity for the past few months etc.

    Hey Isiris.

Just seeing this post now and thought I'd comment to clarify. We actually don't deduct any fees which makes us somewhat unique. What you see is what you get. We feel this is a fairer and more transparent way to do business. You therefore don't see us offering unrealistic or unsustainable %'s.

You may have seen a minus for bonus cost in your account but this is just the bonus amount that was awarded. We pay the cost for bonus, just don't pay rev share on bonus that is lost by your players.

Hope that makes sense but please let me know if you need anything else clarified.

But the bonus cost is 38 percent in this case?

@Triple7, no, the 38% bonus cost is from the unnamed brand Isiris mentioned, opposite of Trada
If i understand your question right

Correct, Isiris was comparing us in a favourable manner against the unnamed brand who charged 38% in fees/bonus costs.

We don't charge for bonus costs but don't pay share on these obviously. Eg below for a player who deposits £100, takes a 100% bonus and loses their entire balance. On 30% Rev share your commission is £30. Simple and transparent.

    Ok, clear!

Sounds good, by the way. What counts is the effective revenue share. A lot of programs are charging fees, which is understandable, but the problem is a lot of them are very vague about them. Many times an affiliate manager even don't understand the calculation.

Net rev. share is then the most transparent and easy way.

lol... they are vague about it for a reason

If an affiliate is on lets say 30%, then they should only wear 30% of the fees/charges. However, programs such as VS for example, are charging their affiliates 100% of all the operational expenses. Leaving the poor affiliates with sweet FA in commission. While the owners of VS sing a merry song, all the way to their bank account.
