If your bounce rate is high, or very few people come back for a second visit, step back and take a look and see if maybe lackluster content is to blame.

While people coming back for a second visit is important, I think the bounce rate for gambling affiliate sites should be looked at differently from regular sites.
Your bounce rate may be high due to very effective advertising, after all, the goal of us here is to send people off to the casino/bookie/poker room, so I wouldn't be discouraged by a high bounce rate as long as you have clicks and sign-ups to counteract it.

I agree with joe too.something to take into consideration is the type of site. For instance if there are free slots to play and are open for free for five minutes, but people click away, why is that? Is there something about the sites that annoys or bores the reader and makes them go to a different site to play games?

A high bounce rate on a certain page may mean you're doing your job perfectly.

I got no problem with people clicking away to visit a bookie.

in general I love bing even more than google, the traffic you get there on ads is cheaper and as good.
it got me so much sales on affiliate products (not gaming)...

Secondly, the comment that says high bounce is bad, not really if it's on your contact page, results page, or anything similar.

Golden rule guys, don't go after search engines, go after users with the search engines in mind.

A high bounce rate could mean that the visitor has found exactly what he/she is looking for, or it could mean that the visitor saw the site and wasn't impressed. A better indicator of a site's quality is the number of repeat visits it gets.

Very True! High bounce rate can be for whole lot of other reasons where aff may be doing the very right thing...! It may very well mean visitor has found what she/he was looking for! People may go away to visit your site!
