Exactly. You can't get a bigger metric than google themselves ranking a site highly and sending lots of traffic.
I'd rather a link from a low da site with lots of google traffic than a huge da site with none.
Infact I dont think I've ever considered da or tf etc when buying a link.

@ £200 that breaks down to £3.84 per/week or £16.53 per/month. Seems some people in this thread expect a link on AskGamblers or something for that price, which, ain't goin happen. Personally I'd take it, if you can trust the link will remain on site, and it's a do following

Firstly, please stop valuating a backlink by checking its DA/PA or TF/CF or DR/URL.

DA/PA doesn't mean its quality. I can easily manipulate these stats.

Check if the website has enough Reputation/Trust ( Social profiles, Traffic, Number of posts )

If you the website is ranking and getting traffic for the keywords which you are targeting, then its worth more then £200.

Now coming to your question,

Average cost of backlinks in sports betting industry, ( What i follow for my clients )

- Site which is decent, but no rankings/traffic. We pay $50 per sponsored post ( permanent ) and $80 for home page ( 12 months ).
- Site with some rankings for few keywords. $80 to $100 sponsored post ( permanent ) and $20 per month for home page link ( 12 months )
- Site with good reputation, ranking for many keywords. $150 to $300 per sponsored post ( permanent ), 99% of these sites wont accept home page links.

Have build thousand of gambling links and the above is what i follow.

Mostly i analyze the cost of link, by keeping monthly budgets in mind and how much the link will help me rank my targeted keyword.

In short, the budget per link depends on how much the link is worth to your website.
Understand the link worth by how it helps you to rank, not by DA/PA and purchase accordingly.

And of course, don't feel shy to negotiate with the webmaster

How does one go about doing such a thing? I'm certain that some of my competitors have done so with newer websites who have less links, that show up with higher PD/DA etc than my site. I'm pretty sure I get more traffic than they do as well, so it perplexes me how this sort of thing happens.

People say this all the time and I have no idea how they go about doing it. Sure, there are some crappy nofollow forum links we could get, but other than that, I'm at a loss.

I have a hard time taking these types of sites seriously. They are wrong on so many levels with regard to our site: backlinks, traffic, etc. And they all seem to provide radically different numbers. I just find it difficult to put much confidence in their results.

Totally agree. Easy to get links? Not for me.
The only websites I can get links are websites I dont want links from.
That is why I pay for links
