SEO or GEO? what is the future?

Hi guys, I have a question! How are you approaching the new AI age where clicks on Google and website visits are getting lower in general?

From what I can understand more and more people are using ChatGPT to find the best casino bonuses, and even if my site shows up as a result, a player is more likely to just go to the casinos official website rather than through my link provided by ChatGPT.

Has this happened to you, and what's been your solution?

AEO is the future, I've spent the last few months making adjustments so that I rank for Google and Ai. Traditional search is dying out slowly.

We basically need to keep up with current trends which means a lot more work. The days of set it and forget it are over.

I mean ok, you get your AEO really on point and all that - the content is there and maybe a reference to your website as one of the sources, but that is about it. Your affiliate link would not end up there.

An option is a registration promo code, will it end up in the reply from an LLM, likely not, unless the person asking is explicitly looking for one.

Will people go and visit your website from the LLM's response? Likely no, if something will be still unclear - they will just ask a follow up question.

Am I missing something here?

So I have had bonus codes show up in results. You can ask your AM to make you a special bonus code that automatically gets tracked to you. Not all programs can do this but many can.

As far as profits go, if you look at all the top rankings sites, they all have loads of citations on Ai which makes me believe that they go hand in hand.

Much like you seem to have done, I adjusted the tone, added more schema and also created some pages strictly for Ai. Make sure you have a llms.txt file instructing the Ai crawlers.

I've created something that you can't really get from an AI summary - a value bet finder web app.
Getting odds from bookies, consuming several "prediction / win probability sources" and aggregating them, putting the two together and showing the output of 1x2 value bets.
It's been showing pretty good results so far.

On the other hand I haven't yet started struggling with regular clicks / impressions - the stuff that has been performing well, keeps performing well and new pages I create (given that enough thought goes into them) are getting traffic as well.

WOW thats really good for you And good job on finding a way to add value to vistors that AI can't add I guess thats a key takeaway from this discussion. Figure out a way to offer more value than AI and visitors will come to your site and interact with it...

Most important aspect in this matter that most of us make a mistake is that focusing solely on GEO is not the solution. SEO is still the core foundation of GEO visibility, if SEO is poor GEO optimization will not be possible. The approach should be good SEO > enriched for GEO visibility > GEO optimization.

The more we move forward in the new age for SEO, the more we understand that general approach is not something that will help, the key is to find a niche and stick to it, grow and only than scale horizontally !

Yes, it’s already noticeable: some traffic is moving into AI answers, and the old SEO approach is working less effectively.
We’re surviving however we can: making content so lively and useful that even ChatGPT says, “Okay, this one’s better to visit yourself”

I think SEO is still the foundation and GEO/AEO is just an extension of it. Generic affiliate pages definitely feel weaker now because AI can summarize them instantly. The sites that seem safest long term are the ones offering something beyond content alone, like tools, data, comparisons or real testing. Stuff AI can reference but not fully replace.
