    Default Site scraper issue

    When I search for my website name in the Google search, apart from my site, I get results of other pages too, that are using (stolen) page descriptions and other (stolen) texts from my website along with my website's name. When I click on these results they point to the gpwa approved boomerang-partners website or it's casino brand. Can someone explain me this? Name: keperny.jpg

    Could be the scrapers (affiliates) are using auto redirects to their affiliate links.

    Filing a DMCA on the pages that are scraping and re-publishing your content might be one place to start.

    The same problem for me. I've had a couple of my sites scraped because of lazy affiliates who couldn't be bothered putting in the effort and doing their own work.

    It's a problem when the content you've taken the time to create is being promoted and reused.
    If you have a way to contact the site, be careful.

    Playing the Devil's Advocate, the question should be, how much effort are you putting into preventing this happening?

    Admittedly, once your site is public (aka online) there will always be some risk involved, be this being hacked, scraped, or a negative SEO campaign lodged against you. However, knowing all this, and then actively taking steps to limit ALL the garbage which will, and does hit your site every day, is key to staying ahead of most of this cr#p.

    1. Prevent hotlinking;
    2. Don't allow Google or any other Search Engine to cache your site;
    3. Anyone other than an actual bona fide person using an ISP, should be blocked. Only allow legit SE bots. FYI, scrapers, script kiddies and other nefarious no gooders use services Cloud Servers such as AWS (amazonaws), Azure Cloud Servers (Microsoft), the list goes on and on. Block these from accessing you site;
    4. Block fake Google bots and other fake bots;
    5. As a side note, if your using Wordpress, ensure you htaccess file and config files are protected. To further protect your WP site, BEST if you can gain a dedicated IP from your ISP. If you have a dedi IP then go to wp-admin and add a .htaccess file there, with Deny from all, allow from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx <- the dedi IP you get from your ISP. This will stop anyone other than your IP accessing the Admin section of your site.

    I also recently had this problem with a scraper that did a complete copy and paste of my site.

    Fortunately, this didn't have any direct impact on the positions on Google, which knows the difference nowadays... because technically, if a person knows how to make a good bot, he will manage to pass all the protections, and if there are thousands of pages, it's complicated to make DMCA complaints.

    20 years ago, Google would have influenced the ranking but the more we advance and the more quality sites are less easy to dislodge (if they are victims of negative seo).

    While I agree top notch hackers can gain access to just about any site, online, security is only as good as what it stops. I've been using ZZblock (no it's not a WP plugin etc) for the last 7 years or so, and it stops the crap at the front gate.

    Put simply, make it hard and scrappers etc., move on to an easier target

    Yes it is indeed a good approach and thus already significantly reduce the problem!

    Could you tell us more about the ZZblock solution?
