Default Skrill - Google Authenticator option removed?

    Hi,

is anyone actively using Google Authenticator as a 2FA for Skrill?

It seems like they completely removed this option in September 2019 due to new EU laws.
And the only 2FA options are now SMS code or email+PIN. You can enable/disable these two options but nothing else.

I was going through my Google Authenticator codes and realized I have Skrill saved there but it cannot be used in any way.

So did they just remove the best / safest (at least for me) option for everyone without any notification and now enforce other less safe methods to everyone?

By the way the GA option still seems to be exist in Neteller but I can't find it in Skrill. Which is beyond my understanding, why remove it in one and keep it in the other one when the wallets should be owned and managed by the same company.

At the same time it is covertly trying to convince me to "increase security" by connecting the account with Facebook login, great...

Had this same issue and even weirder, when i try to make a payment with Skrill it's asking for a 2FA code even though I no longer have 2FA on my account.....

My only experience with Google Authenticator is with crypto platforms. And from my experience I'd stay well away from it. Constantly locked out with its bullshit of wrong code all the time.

Google 2FA still exists for both Skrill/NETELLER, first of all for business account, second of all as a second layer as protection for making the atual transaction.

They also both require phone number and email codes for logging in. Let us just say that they did not fully manage to change systems smoothly and their support is probably doing nothing but answering emails regarding this problem all day.

Perfect, any information about how/when this can be fixed? I didn't get any reply from them, just that they are working on it.

The situation really is exactly as Jokerman99 described, I tried to make a payment to a merchant and it requested a 2FA code which cannot be even set-up/reset.

Was anyone able to disable old 2FA (which now "doesn't exist") without having access to your old phone / old authenticator?

I had to raise a support ticket and they removed it from my account after I reverified some documents.

Communicating with Skril is one of the hardest experience on Earth.

At some point Alien civilization can come back with an answer faster than them.

They reply only over email and you have to wait at least for 96 hours.

They reply on phone. It is not flawless, but it works. Have your ID ready!

Was looking for this feature as well. Quite a shame that they disabled such a security feature.

The Google Authenticator (2FA) option still also exists in Neteller for me. Neteller used to have a live chat option (the best method of communication personally) and I could always reach out to a customer service representative on there and they would sort out my issues for me. I can't understand for the life of me why they've removed it. Anytime I want to contact Neteller now, I have to call their number and they put me on hold for the longest time and they don't seem too keen to talk either
