Default Skrill Targeting Casino Players via Email Marketing While Promoting Rogue Casino

Skrill is targeting casino players via email marketing while promoting the Rogue Casino Burnbet

Upon entering Skrill’s homepage, visitors are, among other things, invited into an Exclusive Offers section, which is actually the main object of this article. As its name suggests, said section features exclusive offers from different online casino, poker, sports betting, and bingo operators as well as from forex/binary options trading providers.
Although there is not anything wrong with iGaming affiliate marketing as a business model and a means for one business or another to make a profit by deploying this model, the fact that a payment services providers has adopted it raises some moral questions. It is simply unavoidable.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Skrill and Income Access (a sponsor here at GPWA) are owned by the same company. Is that correct?

    Completely unacceptable.

If I am right, Skrill, Income Access are both part of the Paysafe Group. IA also never ever reacted to questions about their cooperation with Aff Power.

In hundred years casino industry historians will write books about, that there was a time when working in any relationship with Income Access was at some point a Mark of Cain for casino affiliate programs.

What is a good thing, in my opinion.
I mean the Mark of Cain is a good thing, because Income Access sucks, and I no longer care about any consequences from this "Hi everyone" muzzle and censor artists, a data Kraken that - as Triple7 mentioned - gives serious criminals like AffPower knowingly a software platform for their crimes.

So it's a proven fact, that Income Access is accomplice of serious crime.
    Any objections?

Oh yes, I never forget and never forgive for what they did also to me.
Income Access, you know exactly, what I am talking about, right?

Response from FCA.org.uk (Financial Conduct Authority)

If Neteller are advertising financial promotions such as loans or finance agreements, then we do have rules and guidelines around this type of activity. We'd also expect these type of products to be advertised in a way which is fair clear and not misleading, so that the consumer can make an informed choice. We don't have any rules around advertisement of gambling websites, which means it is commercial decision.
which means when you make a lot of moolah there are not any rules.

    Good pickup and linkbait article.

But I must say that you would have a lot more credibility if 3/4 of the casinos that your site recommends as "top paying casinos" were not well known rogue casinos themselves.

    Hi Muppet,

The brands you mentioned are managed by Ace Revenue. They had problems with delayed payments to players and affiliates, but as far as I know they use legit software and the players' issues I am aware of have been solved.

I had a look at your site and saw brands that are listed in the rouged section of ThePogg.com (WinADay, Slotland) due to unfair software - "running a Roulette game that offered the player no possibility of winning. "

First, as far as Slotland goes I was unaware of any issues with them but that is no excuse as its my job to know this stuff, as it is yours. Do you know when this was? I can't find a date on the pogg site and the youtube videos which might have given a clue are gone. All the feedback from players we have received has been positive as you can see on their review pages. I cannot recall a single complaint made to us about that issue, or slow or non payment by Slotland's casinos. I checked a few affiliate sites I respect and the verdict seems to be universally positive, despite their sometimes odd and dated games and weekly payment schedule which we have noted.

I just read the pogg report and while I am disappointed with how the casino handled the refunds to affected players (i.e. bonus wagering) I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt once after a decade+ of fair operation and numerous satisfied players.

I realise your main aim is to make me look like a hypocrite after pointing out your hypocrisy but... comparing them to organised scam casinos that have been deliberately ripping people off for the best part of a decade is comparing apples to oranges. Virtual / Ace Revenue (one and the same owners) are a long time rogue group owned by a convicted felon who did jail time for fraud. That is absolutely not in the same ballpark. We still receive regular complaints about these casinos from shafted players and there is nothing we can do about it. They have made it quite clear to us that unless their casinos are removed from our blacklist they have no interest in working with us to resolve any disputes or payment delays. Perhaps I can send the complaints your way to handle?

Rich Casino are a well known rogue TopGame / Pragmatic Play / Octopus Game / whatever they are calling themselves this week casino that have been ripping off players for years. Seeing as you like the pogg site why don't you look it up on there and tell me what you find?

On a happier note, I'm Australian. The list of casinos you are recommending there are rubbish for Australian players, even the non rogue ones. I know the options are dwindling but I'd be happy to let you know of some far better casinos. Send me a PM if you want and I'll help you out.

For anyone else's benefit, Slotland had an issue with their Video Poker. It was marketed as a Card Game, but in fact it was a slot machine.

Please stay on topic instead of burning each others portals, we all know the rogue brands and it is up to you whether you want to promote them or not.

Nobody is perfect and there are a lot of bigger (GPWA approved) portals promoting clip joints to have more baskets.

This issue here is that Neteller/Skrill is now a gambling affiliate site and is advertising your (traffic) players for free.

Without comment on whether the above is acceptable or an issue, Skrill has been a casino affiliate for at least three years. It's nothing new.

I would like to make some comments here.

    First one.

Skrill features online casinos on their dashboard for several years, but recently they started to promote them directly via email campaigns. When one of the biggest public listed payment companies in the industry starts sending mass emails with subject "Hey, it's time to place your bets" there is something deeply wrong.

It is called conflict of interest because Skrill/Neteller/Paysafecard is not acting as an independent processor anymore, but as a company that wants their customers to spend as much as they can in order to profit from their transaction fees + commission from their iGaming partners.

There is also a conflict between two regulatory authorities in UK - the Financial Conduct Authority that must supervise Paysafe and the UK Gambling Commission that is supposed to protect players (especially players with gambling problems).

FCA operates independently and it is financed by charging fees to its members including Paysafecard and "does not have any rules around advertisement of gambling websites."

UKGC is a public body of the Government and they have very strict procedures for supervising gambling operators (especially when compulsive gambling is concerned). However, UKGC cannot impose sanctions on Skrill since the company is not a License holder.

    Second one.

After the comments from Muppet I checked the recent reviews (May, June and July) about AceRevenue brands and Rich Casino on AskGamblers and found several complaints from players related to declined WD's requests. I am trying to get in touch with Dan (AceRevenue aff manager) in order to find out if these cases have been handled. Since the beginning of 2017 we sent them a total of 12 new players and I hope to receive information how many of them requested WD's and how they were handled. Obviously this is my personal fall and I would like to apologize for giving a bad example with our selection of online casinos for several markets.

Once you state to FCA.org.uk, UKGC, ASA.org.uk the conflict of interest they either tell you it is a business decision or they just do not reply at all.

Which confirms my thoughts that bank related companies are being protected by the BIS and are above the law and have total immunity.

In my opinion, it's completely unacceptable that financial companies are promoting illegal casinos with fake games. When I did a check not even one of the promoted brands was legal in the jurisdiction where the IP was from.

Government authorities usually do not cooperate very well. You also see this with binary options for example. Gambling commissions sometimes do not even act, because they do not want to enter into a discussion if it's gambling or not. Financial authorities have other priorities sometimes. Companies like Paysafe are manoeuvring between authorities attention fields.

But, it's a difficult discussion in my eyes. If people don't care about their privacy, gambling offers, but just want "cheap" banking services... it's their choice in the end. I think more e-companies will enter the payment field. It provides a lot of information that is very useful.

From the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA.org.uk) :

Your complaint appears to be related to the advertiser’s business practices and as such falls outside of our remit. Therefore we would not be able to assist you with regards to this.

Apparantly being both a gambling affiliate and an Electronic Money Institution is considered not a conflict of interest by law.

With such a big clients base there is also not an unfair competition advantage, no immediate danger to strip the middleman aka small affiliates out (no wonder you earn less each month).

With such a big clients base depositing / withdrawing money at the same place where new gambling opportunities are being offered there is no reason to expect an increase in gambling addiction.

Sorry for the derail earlier. Some of those casinos just grind my gears...

Anyway back on topic Skrill is a cesspit of a company. Nothing they do surprises me. They have covered up hacked accounts and stolen money, they charge ridiculous fees, their customer support is the worst of any company I have ever had to deal with, and they data mine their customers' transactions to work out which of them are gamblers in order to advertise to them.

This is why it does not pay to be a Skrill or Neteller affiliate, you're just giving them more information on how to cut you out. And despite attempts to portray themselves as something other than they are, they are primarily a gambling transactions company. Try to find a list of merchants that accept them that aren't involved in gambling. The list will be shorter than your big toe.

On a positive note it looks like Burnbet are gone, at least they are from Skrill's "showcase" page full of **** casinos on their website.
