Personally I wouldn't bother with Facebook, their stupid 'Edgerank' system means you'll have to post something about four times for everyone to see it.

I think Twitter is the way forward, a better CT rate and better for sharing content. With regards to frequency, you should have a presence on their everyday so once/twice a day at the bare minimum.

...or just because it is paid like/comment. I really wonder what's the point.

    Hey Dan,
I think sport betting is really meant for social media. Sport event are already mediatic and the passionate public is already used to follow the event bit by bit, on the radio (before the internet area) then with RSS feed or app where you can be alert for each event in the match. So I guess sports fan and sport betting has already the culture of following on media really short news and catch phrase, which is not the case for poker or casino for example. The latter are quite new to media in general and is mainly bath in the Hollywood aura that doesn't fit in a tweet.

Excellent point Mr TheGooner! And the cruel thing with social media is that even if you do something worth reading, you are not actually sure that people will actually read it (possible reason: competition does it better, not compelling enough, inappropriate publication time or distribution channel,...etc... etc...). To answer your question: I did some good posts on Facebook (and that doesn't make the channel worth reading). Overall social media may ask a lot of work and creativity. So far I can't dedicate any time to this.

I'd say that the more pushy and commercial your posts are, the less chance they get viewed by your fans.
In the end, Facebook is "just" pushing what they think is relevant. Same as Google with search if i may compare.

So saying that Facebook kills business by hiding posts is not completely true, as they actually try in some ways to push only what they think is relevant (+ what is paid yep...).

To optimize your exposure on Facebook, i'd then say that you have to post what people want to read. Not what you want them to eventually read.
I can't find that article from Mashable, if you guys find it read it it's amazingly well explained by a young guy running all his business on Facebook and who contacted Mashable to explain how he does that, and how he thinks big brands do it wrong.

In a nutshell, he was posting almost 10 times a day if i remember well, but with an amazing variety of stuff: about him, about his fans, about actuality, and one in a while, about the product he wanted to sell. Result: high engagement = high credibility = high exposure from facebook. I'll post it if i find it again. Hope that helps
