    Default Social Networking

    Hi,

I was just looking around and ran across this area. I was wondering if anyone doesn't have Facebook, Twitter, Tweeter or whatever? I am from the stone age and refuse to give out all that info. My siblings are also old as the hills and do not do any of the socializing on some of these sites that require your first born to be signed up.

I have run across a few issues not belonging to any of these sites where I cannot partake in any of the drawings, free chips and such offered by casinos. Does anyone else have this kind of problem?

I feel it is NOT fair to offer these little perks to just one group of people..it should be offered whether you belong to a social network or not..just my thoughts..

Just create a different account without your details on there.
This is happening a lot, it's probably just bosses telling their marketing managers to grow their facebook and twitter stats, so they aim the freebies to those channels.

Yes I think a lot of people do this anyway if they just want a facebook account for their business, etc. I know several facebook "refusers". None of them seem to have suffered any particular ill effects.

Really? How do you expect ONLINE gambling companies to approach technology then?

You don't have to give out any more information than you want to in a social network. I'd suggest that you adapt your thinking to at least trial these developments like facebook, twitter, google+, linked-in (etc), with minimal info.

You never know - you MIGHT like it.

I have looked at my girlfriends and it seems quite mismatched, with gobbleygook. I mean, I am reading statements or whatever on the wall? And none of it makes sense at all. All these, I am now taking a shower...or washing my hair or...josie gained 5 lbs...Is this what is all boils down to? Not interested after looking at a few friends accounts.

I do know one of them loves to do farming (?) or something and is addicted to that...seriously addicted, she plans her days around her farm. That is not healthy IMO...

In my experience there are a lot people (men and women) that even announced their visits to the toilet on facebook and I think that is so stupid!!!

I have 2 facebook accounts: one personal where I only allow friends/family and one for my work where I use it only for work related contacts. I control the level of access of my friends and work related contacts (you can set levels).

I think you should lose the fear, make sure you control the security, do not enter unnecessary information (create a hotmail account especially for facebook), if you wish you can use a nick name. Remember anything you add on facebook will be out there forever, never mention your daily routine, if you get fed up by a friend or work related contact comments you can easily eliminate those people your facebook.

The other tools I use for work are skype and msn and you can link these two to your business hotmail that you created for facebook.

IF you don't want to monitor and adopt popular computing trends then of course you don't have to do so ... but you can't complain if you see online programs using popular social media to reach internet savvy customers and affiliates. It's a valuable channel.

I know people that are still resistant to using text and emails to communicate - and while they can certainly get on with their lives - they are missing out on a lot of social contact with peer groups that they would enjoy.

Social media sites are what individuals make of them - in your case - you didn't even try. And that's surprising if you expect you to be successful in on-line marketing.

I think social media sites are worth the effort put in.. correct me if im wrong but the new google rules award decent points for links crawled via social media posts.

IMO, social networking is part of the job in the affiliate market. there's much to learn and experience on these platforms that I recommend most people to atleast try and spend some time on.
on that note, offers of that nature as said above which are directed to specific groups of people are totally legit in my book.. just by the definition of "Affiliate Market" you understand that there is a specific group of people ("Market") that you need to focus on.. so I think it's fair.
I recommend trying a trial account (fake) that, as Gooner said, you might enjoy. then maybe you'll decide to turn it into a real account or open a new real one
I know what its like for older people to work with computers so I don't usually recommend it to just to anyone but I think if you're already here on the forum and know how to work it - trying facebook/other social network shouldnt be too problematic.

hope you decide to try and enjoy. cheers
