    Default SoftSwiss / Firefox

Hi, is anyone having problems accessing SoftSwiss programs using Firefox? All of a sudden in past couple days it is not accessible. Using other browsers working fine.

Firefox issues seem to increase by the week.

I don't have any accounts at SoftSwiss programs so I can't check those but there are a few things you can try to see if it helps.

Try deleting the cookies associated with the domains you are trying to access (one of the benefits of firefox, they make it far easier to remove specific cookies).

If using an adblocker like Ublock, disable it for that particular site.

Try using a new Firefox session (such as opening FF in a new window from the taskbar.

Try using a new Private window.

I have trouble on occasion with one of my consumer banks, and sometimes one of the above will work, and sometimes I just have to use Chrome, Opera, Internet Explorer or Edge for that day for that site.

FireFox just isn't the browser it used to be, sadly.

side note: My biggest pet peeve with almost all browsers? Give me an admin setting that I can choose to NEVER EVER ignore my hosts file. (I accept the risks)

Thanks Rick, you are a star! That worked! I can now log into SoftSwiss again. Your help is greatly appreciated. Happy holidays and all the best for 2021!

    Agreed, that would be super!

Not many people know what a hosts file is, much less, what it does. So on that basis, can't see a browser adding the tweak.

    Agree Dave,

If I block a site or domain, and I CHOOSE to block said domain, it's sad that any browser will allow visit's to that site I blocked.

If I have a site up on a different ip for testing, by ignoring the hosts file it makes testing more difficult, although "Live Hosts" does help overcome that, but I would rather just have browsers all ME to control my internet activity instead. I am fine with them offering an admin choice in settings, but most of them no longer allow choice of such settings.
