Sports Interaction betting analyst Frank Doyle makes his picks from three of best Top 25 basketball games on tonight.
The Tobacco Road Rivalry didn’t look so smoking last year when Duke swept North Carolina for the first time in six years, finishing the season with an 82-50 beating of their greatest rivals before going on to cut down the nets at Indianapolis.
Duke is a double-digit favorite with Sports Interaction when North Carolina visits the Cameron Indoor Arena tonight, but the Tar Heels have won five straight and seem to have put last year well behind them. The sudden departure of junior point guard Larry Drew can go both ways, and it’s possible that his departure can be used to gel the other players – to show the world they don’t need that guy and they can prove it. The sparks will return to Tobacco Road tonight – North Carolina +10.5 at Duke with Sports Interaction is the pick.
In the Big 12, Texas is a double digit favorite on the road at Norman tonight and that’s no real surprise. When the Sooners visited Austin back January, Jordan Hamilton led the Longhorns to a 20 point win, 66-46, and Texas’ fourteenth win over the Sooners in eighteen games.
But that doesn’t mean that the Sooners are victims. While awful on the road, the Sooners have shown heart on home court and the Longhorns are a must beat team. How much the Sooners’ heart and desire can overcome the Longhorns’ talent and application decides who covers the double digits posted by Sports Interaction. Texas -12 at Oklahoma with Sports Interaction is the pick.
The other big rivalry tonight is in the Carrier Dome, when Syracuse hosts Georgetown. The Hoyas haven’t won at Syracuse in nine years, but the Orange is only a -4.5 point favorite with Sports Interaction. In the kill-or-be-killed Big East, there is no real separation between the teams as each is capable of beating the other on any given night on any given court. Georgetown is a four game winning streak but that Carrier Dome record has to stand for something. Syracuse -4.5 against Georgetown with Sports Interaction is the pick.
Also in the Big East, Notre Dame is making a charge and hopes to extend a seventeen game winning streak at South Bend when Louisville visits tonight. It’s a big game for the Irish – they struggled to beat Rutgers at home three days ago and if a team has aspirations to making waves at the Dance, it can’t have two bad games in a row. Notre Dame -4.5 against Louisville with Sports Interaction is the pick.
