you think it's ok to condemn someone on a forum with your views, but then just slink off and not debate what you said.

I run a Sports betting forum, and all our members post up sports betting tips, what is it that you find so wrong in that.
Sports betting is massive. I am only promoting my site, by posting the very same tips on Facebook.

The people who are my friends on Facebook, would not have asked to be my friend, if they didn't want to read what I have to say.
That is how Facebook works.

I do not say those betting tips scams do not work. I say it is something from past. New era is coming. I am trying to estimate the future not react to what is now or what is past.

My second point is that - indeed capitalism is a scam - but to recommend some stupid tips to people who demand advice, because they are idiots who know they know ****, so they want to believe in someone and then they follow his picks... it is too far for me.

I know I can not die as honest guy, but to recommend some bullshit to someone so directly, is total scam and I do not care they want it. There is a border I do not want to cross especially since there are lot of opportunities how to make money otherwise. If you think your work does not affect your life, you are wrong. If you think that if you recommend to someone betting tips where you know you can make money only when he loses and then you think you can have good dreams and decent life, I can assure you that you can not. To give bad advice and on the top of that intentionally to people we interact with is the worst we can do. This is after all the reason why I post those threads. In case you do not follow my advice then I have to thank you that you are the one who makes the dirty work and I feel pity for you. But as stated above I do not think it is good decision even in terms of moneymaking now.

There is indeed possiblity I am totally wrong, and I overestimate the development. But the shift from "let me some wise guy advise what to bet and I will secretly bet on it and hope for big win" to "I want to show my ticket/decision/opinion to everyone" is obvious and gambling social networks should react on it. As I said at the forum for pros I banned showing tickets, but at casual forum maybe showing the tickets should be default feature etc.

Do you really think this works and is not short-sighted? In fact, you do not know if ManU wins or not or odds are good or not. Most people do not know either. But in fact all you care is your money and affiliate income. And with this kind of post you lose all your reputation and you lose it forever. I think this is cheap and I think even people are not so dumb to buy this in year 2014. I mean: people are enough dumb to lose time and sources with gambling but they are not so dumb to feel your intentions. We are all greedy after all and we know it.

As for those bettingtips posts - I would not go for them unless you have real expert. And the problem is that the real experts are asocial millionaires, who rather bet for themselves and they are very rare.

That's just a silly comment, you have no idea at all of the profit and loss of these selections.

For example - for this match I saw promo at Betfred - where they had Chelsea with promo odds 4.0 or 5.0 (3/1 or 4/1 idk). And THAT is advice that people want since yes, it is free money and you can tell it without shame. I hope this makes some sense.

The promo odds were for new customers only and were promoted on Facebook by me, but they were limited to £20, so to say it was free money, is way off the mark, the lower odds were better as you were not being limited

You are just like the gamblers and take it personally. Yes - we are all in fact scammers and selling tips is ultrascam. I do not care if you agree or disagree, but that is the fact. I am not the judge, I am not telling you should not do it, I do not care honestly. Everyone has to deal with his actions. I am just telling that doing scam and not knowing it is a hazard. We all are in very dangerous area, if someone wants to listen... well then this thread had some sense.

I'm running a sports betting tips site too, I found it's hard to bring in traffic sometimes.
Social media doesn't work for my site (Or maybe the industry)?
Is there any better way to bring in the traffic and get notice from punters?

Back to this, I think social media really kill forum in some way.
People tend to focus on superficial thing, receive information instead of discussing matter together.
Me myself would prefer forum more as I LOVE make discussion with others.
Ads in social media is like " Push-ads" which you might like it at the moment but after sometimes you will realize its the trick of social media

This is a very good point, perfectly illustarated. I once started a forum and over the next ten years it grew into a very decent one but took A LOT of time, we merged with some other smaller forums on the way, and there was no monetisation at the start. But it did grow to become self promoting with a critical mass of users, (in my opinion you need a minimum of 30 active posters, logging in and contributing every day pretty much) and also they should be varied opinions.

I am getting back into the online affiliate game and this time wont be having a forum, times have changed as this thread suggests, and to start a forum now from scratch I do not think would be possible, or if it is I do not have the skills for it. I wont be touching Facebook unless someone can give me a very very very good reason why we should, but Twitter, TikTok (if it hasnt been banned) and IG are likely to build branding.

I expect people will just come and click to join, I expect so anyway, people do not have the patience for reading long threads page after page anymore. TikTok clips are about 10 seconds long, that is peoples attention span these days.

You might be surprised how many of the signups are automated, (No matter what software you use)

Another HUGE issue is the seo wannabe's that sign up daily, sometimes shotgunning 10 or 15 signups for 10 or 15 different sites or industries, and those that do it daily over the course of weeks, all using unique emails, unique bio's, home pages and even rotating through IP addy's.

Some times the accounts sit unverified for weeks or longer, then they return later to activate the accounts to add links to profiles and bio's, or move to the forums to try and spam.

Spam-o-matic - askimet plugins can go a long way to reducing the amount of this and automate at least part of the process of at least limiting the effect of this.

I know what you mean but, for me, the reason we wont be having a forum again is that it can be a MASSIVE time sink. You lose hours and hours moderating idiots basically. Having good moderators to help is essential but even then, the time taken to have an active and well run forum is just not worth the rewards. (In my opinion)

Because of people like you, we can always access to latest sports betting info and discussion 24/7. In my opinion, we all understand social media like Facebook is getting old and communities growth rate is much more slower compare to others. But there is still a lot of market there and we should not miss it out. 2000 followers for a Facebook page is consider huge. What I can predict is maybe the promotion or your selling points to attract them to sign up is not attractive enough...Maybe? There are many examples of sports betting forums or casino you can refer to build your communities. For example acewin, god85 and many more. Based on my observation, marketing campaign that done really well in online casino Asia countries such as Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand would be me88. Because me88 provide really attractive offer that hard to find in other places. Many people would like to sign up or engage with me88 page. So........I think you can copy paste those good examples. Refer to their marketing campaign, improvise and implement in your marketing campaign! Easy way to make your Facebook page BOOM!

Social media, I think, is helpful for maintaining forums. I mean, it will definitely added visitors to your forum. I think you should add more nice topics on your forums so that more people will engage on the posts. Just keep promoting it!
