I see you have sportsbook.ac. I would have had that one myself a long time ago now and almost did, but decided against it. Same goes for sports.ac and sportsbetting.ac and a bunch more. I did used to have some great (seeming) .ac domains but let them all expire and go a while ago now. I had already noticed someone picked up sports.ac in August after I passed on it. Also, do note: I'm not talking about for resale, but I only had them and considered others from the perspective of a user, not a seller, notwithstanding my obvious presentation here for the time being. I'm actually a user of domains first, seller second. In time it became clear to me they were not the way to go and not worth it, however, although I certainly agree that they do seem appealing, likable and "cool."

I would venture a guess that using the exotic TLD's such as .ac you are using is a liability to you and is costing you the more and bigger fish. Saw a little recent discussion of this topic in the "domains and sites for sale" section recently too. I only started doing gaming affiliate marketing around 2007, but began my ecommerce adventure with "domain name science" much earlier in 2001 and have never stopped. My affiliate activities for gaming have merely been on hiatus for a while as the US industry unfolds, and I was also more or less certain both gambling and poker as well as sports betting would undergo this change before the present correction came. Must admit the speed regarding sports betting was a bit of a surprise, however, and I had felt it would probably take longer.

Anyway, the bottom line is that you would almost certainly be doing much better if you ditched the exotic TLDs including .ac, no matter how "cool" or appealing they seem, and stuck with .com, except that you can also do well with ccTLDs outside the US. You will certainly get contrary opinions here, but that is the biggest irony and surprise in that so many gambling webmasters (though definitely not all) are so mistaken about domain names, often even using some of the craziest atrocities I've seen in any industry such as multi-hyphenated monstrosities. By the sweat of their brow and the fickle realities of Google some of them are able to ride a wave for a while and actually make some money, but not having the .com still costs them hugely. So in a nutshell, you would probably be doing far better with a very good two or even three word .com vs. sportsbook.ac and the like. In fact, you can find here and there how I have written extensively about what I used to witness and experience with SE traffic with one of my four word .com's which also happened to relate to Atlantic City (and it was even more than one of them for New Jersey and Atlantic City). If I were doing the marketing now, however, I would probably still keep a domain like sportsbook.ac and use it for public email or something, but not to attract the most and biggest fish in the sea as the actual foundation and brand, i.e. use it for limited purposes only as an "ancillary domain."

As far as "trends" go, I most definitely doubt there will not be many big fish and whales in US sports betting going forward and even now already have for all we know yet. It's not like "they" are just going to necessarily tell us whether people have already come in and dropped $25k, $50k, $100k or more on bets, but many people can certainly afford that. In fact, I would guess the operators wouldn't reveal that beyond the broader figures.

The Sportsbook.ac was one I bought recently and I look at it as strictly a regional site. I bought in case I was interested in getting into the New Jersey legal market and since I decided not to right now so I added some offshore links to it. It does OK for "sportsbook ac" or "atlantic city sportsbook" and for specific New Jersey sportsbooks.

The debate between .com and other TLD's takes up a lot of space on sites like namepros. I do have a few .com I will be developing for the US market as a whole.

The customers I was referring to were from existing US facing websites. I have some affiliate sites that are about the same in customer signups as they have been for the last couple of years but the amount of deposits is down. I was just thinking that legal sports betting in New Jersey may have attracted some of the bigger players in New Jersey/New York to the legal market instead of the offshore market.

Re the .com vs. not .com debate, it's definitely about far more than possibly being able to rank on page 1. I'm not partisan about it like some may be, and personally I even like a few of the new TLDs, but it's just the reality and "is what it is," as they say. Except in rare cases, with online gambling most definitely not being one, building on anything but .com or a good ccTLD for commercial is playing with fire, even if there is a period of doing okay with it and even ranking on Page 1. Unless you're only seeking a small win extremely vulnerable to the .com. I used to have gambling.ac and atlanticcity.ac too, btw. Just missed getting casino.ac, have to admit would have liked having that one regardless.
