Default Starting a gambling portal, any specific seo tips?

    Hi,

I just wanted to ask if starting a gambling website is any different to starting a mainstream website in terms of SEO?

Basically I want to know if getting past the so called "google sandbox" is any harder for gambling sites?

    Any comments appreciated, thanks.

I think it is more difficult for gambling sites to climb up the Google ladder than for sites from other business sectors. This is definitely true in case of, e.g., IT.

Well it all depends on what keywords you are trying to target. The more saturated keywords will be much harder to rank for and take a lot of time, effort, and money. I would suggest doing keyword research and find some quality keywords to target that have a high KEI.

I don't think getting out of the sandbox is any harder. But competition for many terms is very high, so as was said earlier in this thread, think carefully about what terms you can successfully target.

    Thanks for responding.

I'm targeting the relatively new area of gambling via mobile phones and other hand held devices in the UK. I always go for long tail keywords initially and the bigger keywords seem to follow overtime.

I'm slowly discovering that content really is king for gambling sites because building incoming links is so much harder.

A content writer WITH experience in the online gambling industry would be the best start.

Specific tips on the writer? Do you need a connection? I know three that are very good that have been writing gambling content for years. Shoot me a PM and I will see if I can connect you with them right away.

Actually I mean, do you have any content writing tips that relate to writing for gambling sites. Is there a certain formula for writing for gambling sites?

    thanks

If we had a certain formula for writing for gambling sites, the whole stuff would become boring, especially for gamblers, who are definitely our most important target. If you browse through the sites of GPWA members you see how different they are from each other.

Each webmaster must find his or her own formula, how to attract visitors.

    Write Less
Give the maximum amount of information with the least amount of words. Time is finite and people are infinitely busy. Blast your knowledge into the reader at the speed of sound.
