stats somethings not right

[Orbetting]

HI,

Just wondering if there is a stats issue or if someone has noticed this before.

on the 23rd had a player come and deposit some nice $ Deposit count was 4. Yet all other stats are 0. and no NG to date

Just trying to figure out why someone would keep depositing and have not Net Gaming. i was thinking:

Deposits made, but no bets placed yet (so no NG)
deposits made bets placed for future events (so no NG)

any had this before or anyone know what could cause it, just want to get things straight before any finger pointing happens

[universal4]

I think the most common occurence would be deposits made and any bets if placed would be for future events. I am sure the bet365 guys can look into this for you.

Any time I see stuff like that though I always try and remember to get screen shots for my own records.

It's really weird to have 4 deposits and no bets placed, especially during the weekend. Does "number of bets" also show 0?

Lack of information has always been something I don't like about Bet365. It would be nice if they could arbitrary label the players and allow affiliates to see what their players are doing, alas it's not something I foresee happening.

Hi,

Apologies for any confusion caused by this however, I have looked into this and shall pick this up with you following on from your latest email.

I've seen this happen before. Sometimes punters prepare before a certain event. I've seen this in various other books before Cheltenham Gold Cup for example.

First time I saw big deposits, and no revenue (but bets placed showed as a few) I too, asked my AM for assistance, and indeed the player had placed the money on futures 6-7 months ahead.

Is it a new player? Could be after the first deposit bonuses, but with no activity yet.

[CONMEN]

And once again the ONLY betting affiliate that was negative yesterday was bet365

In one of the most negative days in history for the betting players, they managed to have big profits as per bet365..

Respect

[CONMEN]

Also, this month I had 39 signups and the system says that depositors were 18 lol.. So the other players are signing up for fun isn't it

[xecutable]

~50% deposit per sign up rate isn't bad at all.

[CONMEN]

what about if the total deposits are €103,000 and the amount lost €29,000. Still normal?

[xecutable]

That varies depending on the kind of players you are sending.

[CONMEN]

sure.. my betting players are the best.

[xecutable]

I can link you a sub affiliate of mine in a different book that gets 1000s of new players a month ( i am no exaggerating ) and this is his 3rd consecutive month finishing in the deep negative zone. I'd be happy cause of the activity. It will even out some day.

[DanHorvat]

This month my losers turned to winners. They keep winning even when ManU and ManC fail to win. I guess my punters are pretty smart.

Still, as xecutable says, activity is what matters, and with these punters of mine having a turnover of almost 0.5 million euros, it's bound to even out.

Keep 'em coming, strength is in numbers. Focusing on one guy and his four deposits isn't going to get you anywhere, IMO.

That is not a bad rate at all, well done sending such decent traffic. Don't know why you always complain about Bet365 as they are the No.1 program by a mile - which is probably why you keep pushing them (despite the fact you always complain).

What you also need to consider is that Bet365 will take a decent sized bet from your referrals. I am now struggling to get anything but a small bet on with most firms. Who wants to promote a company that wont take a bet from the referrals you have worked hard to send them? It is just another area where Bet365 wins.

There is nothing more offensive to a punter than a knock-back - it is telling them to drop dead and never return. If I am getting knocked back at the likes of boylesports, skybet and paddy power (and there are others) then other people must be suffering much worse because unfortunately I am just not that good.

Total deposits are not the same as actual money deposited. I know, it's weird, but it is what it is. Bet365 really need to upgrade their reporting tools...

Do you people expect sports bettors to lose all their deposits all the time? If so then you are clueless.

I am going to do some very vague maths based on when I was a bookmaker (for three years). We made 6% on sports turnover. So I will assume the average online is around 10% (I actually think it is less but anyway). In the betting shops it might be nearer 20%, but not online.

Punters deposit a total of £1000 between them. That might generate 5 x that amount in turnover = £5000 of turnover, on which you might expect to make 10% = £500 gross profit to bookmaker (of which about £150 commission goes to the affiliate). We made more like half that in reality over a 3-year period, so I think my figures are generous especially as margins have shrunk dramatically in the meantime. We also had various 3-month periods when all we did was lose.

If it was as easy as just keeping all the deposits then bookmakers would be registered charities rather than businesses.

There is some truth to what you are saying, but it's flawed overall.

Any bookie worth their salt will make the profit from the vig, not from player losses. You should know that the aim of a bookie is to have equal amount of risk on both sides of the bet and simply make profit on the vig in the odds. In other words - the bookie doesn't care if the player will win or lose - they will make profit off it (if they are good at what they do). If it so happens that they have more players lose - that's just bonus.

That's why the sports betting affiliate model of % of losses is inherently flawed. As far as I can remember, Bet365 used to offer % of turnover, which was a really fair thing to do, but I guess it dipped too much into their profits and they made away with it...

[justbookies]

When I talk of margins being squeezed I am talking vig, or as more commonly called in uk - overround. Of course that is where profit comes from. It is the bookies mathematical edge.

[DanHorvat]

10% overround is 9.09% vig, they're not the same things.

[justbookies]

While you are not wrong, they are the same concept - the bookmakers mathematical edge on a market, from wiki:

The concept is also sometimes referred to as the overround, although this is technically different, being the percentage the event book is above 100% whereas the vigorish is the bookmaker's percentage profit on the total stakes made on the event.
