Site speed will be a huge SEO factor, says Matt Cutts

Matt Cutts has said in an interview with WebProNews that site speed will be a huge factor in SEO moving in to 2010. WebSite Auditor, one of the SEO Power Suite tools has now a function called Site Load Time as a part of its report that calculates the load times and the webpage sizes of your url and those of the competitors. I have just started using it. I find it very useful.

Optimize your damn banners!!

60k and 80k 468x60 banners will get used less and less as this becomes more prominent.

If all you offer are very heavy creatives, affiliates will use those that have less weight more and more since this is the single biggest factor that affects page speed.

They spoke about this in the SEO session today here in Sweden but as they said there this is an old thing not in teh sense re load times but the fact that bounce rates are part of teh algorithm already so if you have a slow load time you will have a high bounce rate and therefore affect your ranking
