    Exclamation Suggestion For Affiliate Programs

Hey all, not sure if anyone else is having this issue. But when two people own a website, why do affiliate programs not allow both names on the registration. Its very frustrating to say the least. Can programs please consider this, it shouldn't be that hard to have the option on signup to add a couple of names.

Only one person or entity will be listed as the Registrant. In reality that is who owns the site when it comes to a domain dispute.

While two partners may or may not ever have a dispute, organizationally, if an individual is listed as the payee for commissions, most likely some programs may want those individual names to match. Also organizationally it is likely far easier to list the single owner whether a company or a person.

Programs do not want to open the door to coming between partner disputes.

If one partner or the other has a problem with this, it sounds like a dispute that should be handled between the partners not one that should involve affiliate programs.

Most people in this scenario would just set up a company to own the accounts, with you and your partner as owners of the company.

There are other benefits as well. In a lot of countries it's more tax efficient, plus you can change the ultimate ownership (ie: if you want to sell) without changing the name on the account (some programs say accounts are non-transferable).

From a slightly more morbid perspective, this also protects you in case the account holder dies as the account could die with them. If it's held by a corporate entity then it can easily be inherited etc..

If you don't want to do this a more outside the box approach would be to split the traffic 50-50 between two accounts (eg: send 50% of the clicks to each account) but I could see a lot of programs having problems with this. Plus it would weaken your negotiating position and also create a lot of variability between the revenue of each account. Not something I'd personally do but I've heard of people doing this for collaborative projects.
