Movie Recommendations

[Pokerface]

There are some threads on TV shows but I don't see one dedicated to movie recommendations. For many of us going into winter it's that time to settle in and watch some good movies.

Recommendations?

Here are a few:

- Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris
- The Last King of Scotland
- The Imitation Game
- The Good Nurse

A lot of Tom Cruise's sci-fi back catalog is good if you haven't seen it.
- Minority Report (2002)
- Oblivion (2013)
- Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

And Gerard Butler is "quality" B grade action - fun - not serious.
- Greenland (2020)
- Olympus has fallen (2013)
- London has Fallen (2016)

One of my favourite topics!

I think a lot of the better movies are older ones (imo)..such as:

The Last Samurai (Tom cruise)
Last of the Mohicans (Daniel Day Lewis)
The Grand Budapest Hotel (Wes Anderson ..love the theme/set design)
Tombstone (can't go wrong with that!)
Gran Torino (Clint Eastwood)

Newer titles: I think the new Dune (2021) and also the new Top Gun: Maverick is well worth watching too.

[Oliver Cooper]

Tom Cruise one of my favorite actors tbh
And the last movie "Top Gun: Maverick" damn good

[onlinegamblers]

Mollys Game is a good movie about the industry. I can also recommend these limited short series on Netflix connected to the industry:
- The GameStop Saga
- The Hunt for the Crypto King
- Skandal, bringing down WireCard

This one is a little older, but one of my favorites is one called Seven. It's a crime thriller that kept me in suspense from start to finish.

I love the movie Triangle of Sadness. It's really cool!

I second that, if you haven't seen it then put it on your list.

Who watched the TV series "Wednesday"? What were your impressions? When will there be a second season?

It's a stolen concept.
The person that deserves not only credit, (Melissa Hunter) but should possibly have been the star or at least part of the creative team was not only shunned, but also threatened by the studio even though she created the idea.

Here is a playlist with the episodes, last one is Melissa Hunter talking about how the studio forced her to shut it down.

I recommend films with Vincent Price

One of many great ones is, for example:
The Comedy of Terrors (1963)

[jocajoca]

whiplash, forever one of my favourites

[Springbok]

Hell or High Water is one of my favorites. Really a big fan of Taylor Sheridan overall - especially Yellowstone, 1883, and 1923.

[Nicole Goodwin]

I always rewatch "How the Grinch stole Christmas". It's even hard to say how many years this tradition has been going on
