    Exclamation tight slots hurting affiliates

I've noticed more often than not that slot machines have become very tight. This holds true especially for Microgaming. In my recent play I actually went an entire session of 292 spins without a single bonus.

While this may be good for a first time commission, I think it's hurting affiliates overall. Players who see this kind of tight play are simply not going to come back and deposit a second time. I think it's fine for a player to lose but for me I play for the bonus rounds and if they hardly ever happen why would I want to return to play again?

I can see from my own affiliate stats that players are depositing and simply not returning.

Do you think slots have gotten tighter in recent years or am I on an extremely long unlucky streak?

I don't think so. Some MicroGaming and most Endorphina slots, yes. But most NetEnt slots are low variance slots in my opinion. It also all depends on what sort of visitors do you have. Some players really do not like winning all the time small prizes and seeing a lot of graphics and stuff every time they win a few bucks.

While that may be true, they are well below the normal % you would see at a land based casino. I think if word got out that a slot did not produce a bonus round after 200 or more spins people would simply go elsewhere to play.

That is what I'm seeing anyway.

Either that or they are being cross promoted to and just disappearing from my stats.

Return to player percentages at online casino's are a lot higher than at land based casino's. There is no doubt about that. Online casino slots will have payout percentages of 94% - 98.5%. Land based will probably be more in the range of 89% - 93% at the most.
Sometimes a bonus round will not hit in 500 spins, and sometimes it will hit two times in a row. Nothing strange about that, as the RNG is completely random and has no knowledge of past or future results.

I basically want to echo what wolfie has said.

The RTP might be ~96% on a certain slot, but we need to remember that is an average over all payouts for that slot in that timeframe. Some players will have an individual payout percentage of 200% and others will have one of 20%. If the payout rate was 96% for everyone, noone would be winning. The fact that it's random is why you're feeling like they are tight, but you're just having an unlucky run.

Last month and this month one player I'm watching that has been referred by an affiliate has won almost 100k. And they just keep winning. So there are winners out there, you're just not having much luck at the moment.

Edited to add: If I am at the club playing the pokies and I put a tenner in and win nothing, I will move to a different machine. Unfortunately it's very easy for online players to move to a different casino if they have played a few games and aren't having any luck. I guess the trick to that is making them come back to your website to choose another casino.

I Agree with Renee for me its a case of if your not hitting it on one machine try another you may Just have more Luck also alternate bte sizes etc try different things and different patterns sometimes that works also

I agree with the posts above, it has to be that you're on the wrong side of variance. Back when I played poker for a living, it was not rare to have thousands of hands going by with me losing all the time, even though I was clearly a winning player by my overall results. The human mind cannot process and understand randomness. It knows it exists and understands it in a formal way, but cannot handle the fact that something has no cause and just happens - randomly.

That does not mean it's not possible that the machines are tighter, but we need a way bigger sample size to even start drawing conclusions.

To my knowledge nothing has been changed. Do you have links to the issues? I haven't heard anything about it but am interested in reading.

If you have any questions about particular slot variance just ask your AM. We generally have slot percentages and whether they are low medium or high variance slots. It can help in decisions on what games to push or what to play yourself.
