Default Tipstrr Engine - Platform for Tipsters/Handicappers

    Hi Guys,

We've recently launched a platform built for tipsters and sports handicappers and have released a quick video explaining what we do. I know a lot of guys on here are involved in sports tips/picks related stuff and we are looking for ways to collaborate with established portal websites to help improve the service we can provide those that use our platform.

    Here is the video: youtube.com/watch?v=Avq_-FGRQFk

Any feedback is appreciated, or if anyone would be open to collaboration that could help us (and you!) then please get in touch

Looks interesting. You need to review the tipstrr home page, seen at least two obvious typos and I only scanned it quickly.

I'm probably being dim - or maybe 4 hours sleep a night for the last week is taking its toll - but I'm not immediately getting what the benefit is for the man in the street that wants to publish their tips on the platform. Most will be wanting some form of financial gain (or potential of it), if not in the early days then at least ultimately. Is that a possibility, and how?

PS If that's explained already on the site, just point it out and I'll take a look.

He might be on to something....some people would post for the recognition and ego boost if their tips are correct.

The idea is that people can have an accurate record of their picks. Everyone has an opinion, and we are providing a platform that accurately records how good their opinion actually is, well at least that is the idea . Social media is full of people professing to be amazing at picking winners, some charge, and others don't - we are making it transparent - a "if you think you're good, use our platform to prove it" kind of thing.

There is a lot of after-timing when if comes to sports betting i.e. "So glad I put £1,000 on Atletico to win La Liga at 40-1" or something similar. Now, with our platform they can record and share picks, and we verify the time they said it, the odds that were available at the time (via XML) etc.

It all started from seeing horrendous cases of 'scamming' activity, whereby people shout about totally unrealistic profits, records and staking plans (e.g. allstarsportspicks.com - apparently $228,756,638 profit, with a staking play ranging from $1,000 to $13.5million).

We are trying to improve the reputation of sports tipsters/handicappers by automating the processes that could result in fraudulent results.

People sharing picks for free can convert to a premium site easily by chatting with us and justifying their decision - if their information/advice is valuable and their strategies reasonable then there are seldom any issues.

Hmmmm I can see how this might work if you can get the site into the general consciousness of the betting/tipster public - ie it becomes a 'go to' site for tipster verification.

I hope I'm wrong but I'd have thought it wouldn't attract casual tipsters who already put out tips on social media. Why change?

And for those tipsters who show success on the site, they'll (most likely) be posting because they have the ultimate aim of charging. Yes, some people do it for the recognition (and you might get some of the casuals from that perspective)...but this soon wavers when they have a bad run, or find it's impacting their time when combined with the work they have to do to arrive at selections (and probably be dealing with other life responsibilities too)

For the successful tipsters, when they do get to the point of wanting to charge, they're not going to want their tips publicly displayed. So at that point - unless you have a proofing system in place - you've lost them? (aside from the historical records you have stored)

We do have tipster verification/proofing in place already. They can't tell us what the odds are, we find them ourselves and we calculate the P&L, ROI etc accordingly. From our experience, tipsters want to display their previous picks as a selling point - we do this. Their current picks (if they are charging a premium to view) aren't visible unless you are a paying member subscribed to the site - we manage this membership functionality too.

Our idea is to reduce the effort required to run a legitimate and nicely designed tipster website.

Many people share picks on social media, but there is zero regulation, it's messy and almost impossible for followers to keep track of the results. A 140 character tweet that says: "Man United Win 1.41, Arsenal -1.50 1.88, Liverpool v West Ham Over 3.5" will be lost in no time, meaning the tipsters has to manually keep a record somewhere and make sure it's accurate. We offer to do that automatically. That's the appeal. We've got around 40 sites up and running already, with a free-premium ratio of around 3:1, so we think we could be on to something.

You mention time - that's one big thing we wanted to cut down. We know guys that spent hours every day posting tips, adding images, adding pages, arranging email notifications, finding odds etc. - so we've automated everything apart from choosing the picks/tips themselves. So hopefully people will find this as straight forward as posting tips on social media - but with the added bonus of a site, and verification/proofing.

I get it now. You may well have something (certainly from your business perspective, looks to be a great idea) - checked a couple of the top tipsters and they look to be posting good results.

Is there a risk that everyone (punter) that hits the site will congregate to the most popular/successful two or three tipsters...and leave the others getting steadily disillusioned.

Are there stats showing how many are hitting your page, bounce rate, time on site etc

Do you cover Betfair at exchange SP?

Can you have a link on your personal Tipstrr page to another site (for example to explain how you arrived at your selection)?

There is a chance of that, but that is a risk whether you are on a comparison site or not (I think). At the minute, only a few signs ups come through the comparison site, the majority is through self promotion etc. I do see your point though - it's certainly valid. One thing I would say is that many of the tipsters provide different strategies that will suit some people and not others. Having them all in one spot will hopefully make it easier for the consumer to decide which one fits them best (in theory!!!)

We have google analytics for each site, and each tipster gets access to their own analytics so they can see what's going on. Our tipstrr solution provides space for a tipster to explain their reasoning: http://terrytipster.com/tips/tip/tri...tobago-vs-iran for example. Some like to provide analysis, others don't, and some like to as and when they can.

We took BF off for the time being as our algorithms didn't take in to account the commissions (thus providing unattainable odds).

Bounce rates are typically 30-40%, and average site duration ranges from 2-5 minutes depending on the site itself.
