Trump supports online gambling legislation

When it comes to online gambling legislation in the U.S., "The Donald" is on board. Casino mogul Donald Trump told the New York Post that he supports regulated online gambling in the U.S. because cities like New York need the tax revenue.

From the New York Post:

"Why lose all those billions of revenue?" said Trump, who built Atlantic City's three showcase casinos into that city's biggest taxpayer.

"Online gaming is going to happen, so we might as well have it work to the public's advantage."

City and State get 6% and Feds get 2%.

Are these tax rates in line with other EU countries rates?

I had heard that too. Can only be a good thing to have a high profile, smart and successful business man support this legislation. May convince a senator or two on the right to actually vote for this.

I can see how he will have his brand of Trump online casino if that is going to happen. I wonder if all the cash strapped states will follow suit.

I think that it's good to get popular icons on board, it helps generate momentum for the cause. I think the reality is that the major lobbyists and casino owners like Trump are not thinking about ethics, but greed. They want the reserve the online gaming for land based operators who already have land based business. I suspect that when they fight for "online gaming regulation", they are not thinking about the industry as we know it. Do you think Harrahs will pay 40% commission to an affiliate? I'm not so sure they would, or would have too. It's just my opinion. I certainly do not mean to sound bleak.

At least once the regulation is in place it's a start. I think things would be clearer as we get closer.
