Default Twenty percent of Russia's adult population plays poker

This, according to a report from the International Business Times.

That's a pretty astounding statistic if you think about it. 1 in 5 Russians play poker!

I guess it would depend on the question.

Technically, I am a poker player too ... but I haven't played online in 5 years.

Ehmm, I don't believe that numbers at all. Poker is really going down in Russia, maybe it was like that 4 years ago...

Here you can see number of searches for "online poker" in Yandex search engine: http://take.ms/Kwlov. The numbers are just going down tbh, I know that as I speak a lot with Russian affiliates who work in Poker.

Can't say I am surprised. I always bump into players from Russia/Ukraine on the virtual felt.

I've never met more people willing to work for less money than Russian poker affiliates. Cutting each other's throats for 1 and 2 % margins on players. What a terrible market to be in!

Maybe it's because they tend more and more to play poker with friends at home the traditional way

Oh yeah, there are terrible affiliates who give like 70-80% cashback/refback to their poker players, no idea what they live off, it's just weird. But! They don't live long.

It was pretty competitive, but now, because poker is not so popular anymore, only top 5 best affiliates are still on the market, less of those "cutting each other's throat".

It was also because of good CPA deals and currency rate, as for people in Russia $300-$500 is really good money to live off now.
