    Default UKGC Funding

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has launched a consultation into the funding of the Gambling Commission.

The consultation, which will run until 25 March 2021, proposes an uplift to Gambling Commission fees based on proposals from the Gambling Commission to the Government. This is separate to the ongoing Gambling Act Review.
    Full article here.

Interesting timing with the Gambling Act review in progress.

The information is buried about six clicks away from that original article link in the OP.

But eventually I found "The Commission is therefore proposing to increase all licence application fees by 60%, from October 2021"

FFS - it's just a revenue generation scheme for policy wonks that want to eliminate gambling in the UK

Wow, 60% increase!?!? Total money grab while making everything more difficult to operate and/or comply.

I know, Pokerface. 60% is so ludicrous! Next thing you know it'll probably be 70%. I won't be surprised.

I won't be surprised either. But it is too much.

You realise they're talking about the license application fees, not the POC charge, right?

As in this isn't a 60% tax on gambling revenue, it just means if the license used to cost £100 it now costs £160 (random example, fees are way higher than that).
