So I asked this Business Development Manager of a "reputable" SEO company what they could do for one of my sites.

Here is part of his reply:

If you speak to a sales guy, you're going to get a salesy reply. You need to speak to the Head of SEO if you want decent replies to your SEO questions. The problem though is that the Head of SEO will not be able to do much lead-gen.

The best way to handle this is to have a sales guy who is literally there to open doors and then set up meetings with SEOs who can actually speak the language.

Building backlinks will be a more natural process when your site is a trustworthy source of information -). Any shortcut might give you a momentary high but in the long run, the sustainable strategy always wins.

Thank you for the heads-up. When it comes to SEO, I believe it's always essential to have a solid understanding of the fundamentals to steer clear of scammers or individuals who think a couple of courses and a few months in the field make them experts.

Furthermore, I'm shocked by how it's becoming increasingly common to include copied ChatGPT responses everywhere. It's as if laziness is preventing some people from thinking and, if so, why trust our business to those people?

Things have changed since the last algo update, HCU specifically backlinks are becoming less and less it looks like google is using more ai to rank sites than previously hence why so much junk and spam is floating around but i expect it will get better. the problem with SEO is that it can change in a day and years of experience is now useless if you are not willing to adapt

I think links are still important. The question is which links are better than others.

Exactly - There was a time when people built directories to rank high. Then they link-exchanged their way to top results. Then it was blog sidebar and footer links. Then it was (and is) PBNs with sponsored posts. Now it's parasite SEO and people still making money on the "older" methods.

Don't get me started on some of the overpriced link building services.
