Default Unsolicited Link from a Porn Blog... Article However is Legit...?

Was going over links to disavow today. I came across a curious case. We appear to have gotten an organic link, from a genuine article, hosted at a pornography blog. I searched the site and there have been a handful of poker articles over the last dozen years or so the blog has been active.

I'm not sure if I should disavow this link or not. Like I said, article appears to be legit. The link coming from porno however has me spooked. Link is below, replace xx with tt, if you want to view it for yourself and give an opinion.

First of all, I would not say it's a porn blog. It's more the blog of a guy who works in porn (and who talks about his work) and who loves poker. But the blog itself is not pornographic: no nude photos, no videos, no dirty stories, etc.

Second, some people may not like the main subject of this blog (porn business) but it is a good blog with relevant links. It's not a spam blog at all.

Third, the article itself is excellent, it's an article about poker and the links are all relevant.

Fourth, since Penguin 4.0 Google has greatly diminished its paranoia of spammy links. Generally, it ignores them and does not really penalize the sites that receive them.

Conclusion: Personally, I would certainly not disavow this link.

Agree ... the link and the post at itself would be fine. Porn (and it isn't that) and Gambling ... it's just entertainment. No need to become paranoid.
But the domain is crap. Ofc its a non-profit hobby page ... weak link profile, almost zero rankings, no traffic. Just ignore it, Google will too.

Disavowing links is mostly (*) useless nowadays. Google is already discounting the links considered "not editorial votes", and they don't bring risk of penaltty (this was a change to stop/reduce negative SEO attempts).

(*) in some case it still makes sense, but usually you can ignore those links and spend your time in more productive tasks

Meh, I just don't think that's true. The guys at LinkResearchTools would argue against that completely I imagine!

I have so many spammy links pointed at my site that I don't want to risk ****-canning my disavow file and getting algo-******. Instead, I keep to the same old tactics of disavowing obviously **** inbound links from non-relevant websites.

And as recently as last February I was at a conference where Negative SEO was discussed. And people in the audience said they did it and swore it worked, as well as the presenters...

Of course, the guys at LRT wouldn't agree... their business relies on it!

Then, of course, it could work... I just never saw it happening. And when someone else told me it worked, I always found several more probable reasons for a loss of ranking...

Then, if you have a lot of spammy links, go ahead and disavow, of course. All I'm saying is: don't spend time every day updating the disavow tool... when you do a check every few months it's more than enough. But of course, if you have nothing better to do, do it every day. Doing nothing is boring.
