Use of post-tags

Hey guys,

So, many sites, including my own, are using tags like this, what is your take on the use of tags in posts, motivate why you would use any of the below practises, or anyone else for that matter

- Use only high-level words like casino and gambling,
- Use only specific words to tag posts, like "mobile casino review" or "iphone casino review",
- Use both specific and high-level tags.

Furthermore, do you use many tags or a small amount of tags on each post, why?

How do you guys think that your practice affects the SEO of your site, are there any risks, etc etc..

Would love to get a discussion going on this topic!

I use it for navigation purposes, and no index it so it has no value SEO wise, but does help the visitor explore the site more

Post tags are useful for navigation purpose and also to be grouped with similar content. I think the main purpose of tags are to improve the user experience in more effective way.

Post tags are probably the best way to get nice backlinks to your own casino review sites =)

Are they still very valuable when it comes to google though?

What do you mean about nice backlinks? Are you referring to the use of post tags when posting content on social medias etc, and that use of hastags makes the content appear on more separate pages? I was referring to the internal use of post tags on your own site, how it helps navigation and possibly SEO.

On your second question, I would say that anything affecting the users experience in a good or bad way is affecting SEO, increasing ease of navigation is of course affecting the user experience.
