Do I need a disclaimer by law?

I've almost finished my first sports betting site and am just wondering if I need a disclaimer and a link to gamble aware before I go live with it?

Its solely based around UK football betting.

No you don't.
Operators have to do this as part of the terms of their betting licence.

There's some stuff in the gambling act about any site that promotes online betting products to UK visitors needing to link to gambleaware.co.uk, and also display the 18+ logo or '18+', but most of the act is largely ignored by pretty much all UK affiliates and I'm yet to hear of anyone getting in trouble for it.

I usually add a link in my sites footers, primarily out of habit because it's a requirement to run ads on google.

Does the act even apply to affiliates? I thought it's primary purpose was to create the Gambling Commission and then give that body some teeth to regulate and license the operators.
Your point about google is certainly the chief reason why you may see links to gambling help organisations on affiliate sites.

Sorry mate, must have missed your post before.

I think the 18+/Gambleaware bit might actually be ASA not gambling act, although I think the gambling act says you need to comply with ASA codes.

I know it's in there somewhere, but I can't remember 100% off the top of my head where. If you want to have a browse, it's probably in one of these links. Otherwise I'll try to drag up my notes from my conversation with a lawyer when I first started.

Also can this Disclaimer , be appended, amended, modified over course of duration of the lifetime of site.
