Default Enough with the affiliate meetings already

Seems every few weeks I'm getting a new email about an affiliate conference happening on the other side of the planet. I guess business must good for those programs and affiliates who can afford to attend each conference. I for one am tired of hearing about them in my inbox.

I think thereīs too many conferences. I think most people think thereīs more than enough but I canīt say they bother me. They possibly make me feel jealous that Iīm not there because I only tend to go to a conference once every couple of years. Thatīs always felt like enough for me - this way, I get to see old faces and meet new ones without it becoming boring or pointless.

Twice a year is fine, even 3 times. Anything more than that will not give you enough time to tryout the new deals and get a valuable feedback, before you meet up again with your AMs and discuss what went right or wrong.

These invites do not bother me at all and if they did, each mail comes with a "If you do not wish to receive any further messages please click here" sentence at the end, so I would know what to do

Florida of course.....(the only area with more hotel rooms than Vegas)

I was thinking about Tuesday, but there is another damn storm coming....and from what I saw last night this one is the biggest threat we have had so far this season....but it will be another day or so before we will know how much of a threat it will be.

A gathering in Florida. Looks like things have gone a full circle back to so many years ago.

On the original subject, I fine the emails a pain. The problem with the unsubscribe link is it probably means you don't get any of the program's emails, not just the conference meet up ones. I think it is sufficient to post in the forums that the programs will be in attendance. I seem to think differently to other people, however, if I wish to meet up with an affiliate manager I will contact them to organise the meeting.

I posted about this a while back and I'm not sure the affiliate managers realise that they might send an email or two about it, and so do the other fifty programs that I might have signed up with and so the effect is a bit overwhelming. As soon as I see the word conference I'm moving the cursor to the delete icon.

Rick if you are paying for my flight I am there.

I can absolutely see how this would be annoying, which is why we try to send it out in a newsletter that contains other stuff that you will be interested in reading rather than a single email just about that. At least then you don't feel like you've wasted your time.

On the other side of this Chris (OP) - if these emails are personally written ones, you could feel pretty flattered that so many aff managers want to meet with you.

Yes Renee I think I remember you saying that last time and should have put that in my post above. Including it as part of the weekly/monthly newsletter is the perfect solution for everyone.

I'm already in Hawaii and it's pretty nice here.

Would save Rick a few dollars because he wouldn't need to pay my airfare. You are still paying for everyone aren't you Rick?

Waikiki, which I like and it surprises me because I don't tend to go for the touristy places. I love the north shore and basically anywhere from Diamond Head to Haleiwa following the coast. I try to spend three months here each year. Maui is magnificent and early next year I will try out either Kauai or the Big Island.

Basically it's a good mix of laid back island lifestyle with the well developed infrastructure for internet etc.

OK, when the date and location for the Disney affiliate event is finalized, Rick or any of the other organizers should go over to www.gamingmeets.com and provide the details by adding a new event there. We'll list it under upcoming affiliate events on the site. And we could list it in the the upcoming events section of the GPWA Times weekly newsletter and magazine and send you a few GPWA Times magazines to share with affiliates attending the event.
