Default In the wake of the Google & Yahoo bans

Excuse me if I sound like an ignorant newbie (which I am, I admit) but what now?

I just completely overhauled my site and have been working on raising my page rank, but the next step was going to be PPC advertising. That this has become a very diminished option has truly discouraged me.

I guess my question really is: should I be discouraged? Are most of you dependent on PPC or do you find other methods of generating traffic more effective?

    Help, please . . . .

Many of us are not PPC dependent at all. There are still a zillion other ways to advertise on the internet, but your first effort should still be for SEO.

The Google and Yahoo bans are creating opportunities. Opportunities for other search engines to grab market share, and opportunities for portal owners to pick up wandering surfers.
