I guess way too many things in the food industry are not very healthy, worldwide speaking. But you either go with what you are given or you shop for "bio" foods which are about 3x more expensive (this in case you truly believe it is indeed bio). Or, if you are lucky and have enough time on hand, you prepare your own bread, you go and buy milk, fruits and vegetables etc from someone who lives in a rural area and know he grows his food by old traditional ways.

A lot of health products in the supermarket aisles are not always as healthy as they appear to be in your eyes.

Many additives are included in processed breads ... not always the best option. Good old fashioned bread from a bakery is the best choice.

I always choose the bread that says 'no preservatives' and also has the 'best shelf life' expiry date.

A friend's 16 year old son is on a health kick, wanting to bulk up (weights). So he's gone out and bought all these protein bars etc. Just happened to read what's in these things the other day. Some of the ingredients (ahhhh chemicals) I couldn't even pronounce properly.

As far as bread and so on, if I can make it myself, then I do. The amount of cr#p that goes into food these days, is a scary eye opener!

The worst part about healthy food is that it costs more. Even if you buy organic food it still contains **** in there but it's like 30% less chemicals, but still not homegrown. I've spent some childhood in a village so I've had natural grown meat and it tastes completely different from what you get in the stores.

I disagree that all healthy foods are more expensive.

I do agree that anything "labeled" more healthy or organic or whatever descriptive words they market the product under does make it more expensive.

In many many cases there are more healthy alternatives to the foods you buy regularly that are often not more expensive.

As an example, let's say you need to reduce sodium, and you decide you will start with canned vegetables category. You can go out of your way to go to the health food stores, or the health food aisle in you local grocery, or you can just look for no sodium or low sodium versions of that canned good, or at least check the labels and pick the brands that have lower sodium content.

Fresh fruits and veggi's....that organic label just raises the price and almost never changes anything else.

None of this should be a shock to anyone. Look at it this way, if Casino A and Casino B are owned and marketed by the same group, is Casino B better then Casino A for our visitors? That depends on what we tell them on our landing page that contain our links.

I am part owner of a healthy takeaway and we spend a lot lot more on I ingredients than our less healthy competitors. Fresh stuff and high quality costs more.

I found this rather interesting and it ties in with a documentary I watched about why Western societies, especially the US, are becoming more obese: https://www.sharecare.com/health/eat...-cheaper-fresh

I'm also on holiday at the moment in an all inclusive hotel in Spain. There is a man who must be close to 30 stone who piles his plate high with sausages, bacon, toast and other breakfast items. Right next to the counter is bowls of fresh fruit and cereals......
