Bad SEO companies

Right after reading casinoplanets thread, and many others just like it on pretty much every webmaster forum out there, we came to the conclusion that it would me nice to give something back to the people who have been conned by cowboy SEO's who are just out to pull a fast one.

So here's the deal, we're offering 50% for 3 months to anybody who has been conned by an SEO company in the past.

hmm great job jumping on the bandwagon eh. I have no clue who you are but I want to make two points

1 - Ask for references

2 - FOLLOW UP WITH THE REFERENCES

Don't just hire someone based on their word. Ask for information. Check out the sites they worked on. Were the clients happy? Were there any problems? Was the service provider readily available?

Would you hire someone to build your house that you don't know. Would you trust your plumber to do the job of the electrician. Probably not - so why would you give your money to someone you don't know online, who you'll likely never meet without asking questions.

I completely agree with asking for references or at least some proof of past works. But more importantly I think you should always make sure you get a contract. If a contract is signed the company is legally bound, a lot of people slip up by only getting peoples word, if nothing else you can always report somebody to trading standards for a breach of contract.

I believe that an SEO should stake the money you're paying him on his abilities, we get paid enough for it, if we're going to promise to get you somewhere in 3-6 months you should have it in writing. And if it isn't achieved there needs to be something done about it. I'm actually considering offering a money back guarentee.... do you think that might be a good way for the industry to go kaus?
