Default What brand of computer does everyone use?

I am thinking of getting a MacBook Pro. I have always been a PC guy, but my current laptop (<1 yr old) is lagging and I have heard from friends with MBP's that they can run Windows and Apple OS faster than a PC can run Windows.

Plus, you hear people who are FANATIC about Apple, but you NEVER hear that about PC.

In my house, I have 4 HP laptops, 1 HP mini laptop, and a Dell Desktop. Plus multiple VPS' etc. that I use in various business ventures etc.

I'd love to hear from Apple users especially about my likely switch.

If you decide to run windows on a Mac, do NOT use boot camp and dual boot....just run it in a virtual environment inside the Mac os....

I recommend you take the Mac up to 4 gigs so you can assign 2 to Windows....

Messing around with Nat and Bridged mode on the network is the most difficult part to get past depending on the type of networking environment you need to create to be able to access shares etc on your lan...(as well as on the Mac)

    Also, I forgot to mention....

Parallels (not sure if I spelled that correct) but they have a pretty good utility to create a virtual disk from an working windows install.

Oh and bytheway, I do NOT use a mac, but am familiar with them and work on them for clients.

I have never found anything that is better on a mac (except Garage Band) and can name apps on a pc that can not be done on a mac.

The last part of your message surprises me. My friend is a college professor and teaches on Mac's. He said he has NEVER had a compatibility issue with Mac vs. Windows and prefers Mac over Windows as he uses them both regularly.

The compatibility this was my main concern. I guess if something won't run on the Mac, I can always use one of my VPS'.

    That's just it....

If the Mac isn't going to do more for you than the PC why change?

And buy all the software again!

And if something you need isn't available on the Mac then you still have to run windows....

And lose Outlook (until the next Office version)

And why would preferring to run PC's surprise you?

I CAN name apps that can NOT be replaced on a Mac and do not really care much about Garage Band (although it is a cool app) so why wouldn't I prefer a PC?

Dell here. As I personally am not a heavy graphics guy I don't see enough reason to change to Mac.

I am somewhat of a graphics guy (although there are some things which I wish I could do better), and Photoshop runs just as well on a pc as it does a mac....It is basically the same application however the shortcut keystrokes are different in some cases.
