What to do with reviews of programs you're no longer promoting

title probably says it all. on some of my older sites i have been promoting poker rooms that are not existing anymore, or went rogue by adding minimum amount of player clauses.

what do you guys do with those pages? redirect them to a hub page, or add a note on top that you're no longer promoting them because of 'recent changes', change it into a negative review, other options?

If you are lazy you can just redirect the affiliate links.

A better solution would be to remove the aff-links and insert a button saying that you recommend XY room instead because of A, B and C.

You could also delete pages that don't get any traffic, or at least remove the internal links to them.

these all sound logical indeed, and i think i did use all of these methods already before also.
i guess it also depends on the situation a lot , just like you said, if it has traffic or not. i'm going to do a deep cleaning of my sites soon, on some of them i have the feeling that i can throw away half of the reviews. ok, they are outdated anyway, and not of the level of todays standards, but still, ... it's content for some sites.

You've answered your own question. Maybe if you'd have stated in your OP, that these pages are "outdated" and NOT "of today's standards", then you'd have been given a more fitting/valid response

In any case, you have to weigh up (evaluate) whether these pages are of any value.

• Are they keyword stuffed?
• Do they provide the user with valid information?

The matrix of what is worth keeping, against what needs retiring, isn't always clear cut!

If it still has traffic, anything relevant would do. Depends on the page tho.
Rewrite it to suit a similar user intent, or straight up recommend something similar on the top of the page.

I usually add a box on top of the article to let people now that the site is not available anymore and just link to the most relevant offer. If it is a page with not much traffic then just do a redirect.

I don't delete any review pages because I still want the benefit of those indexed keywords/search terms. Instead, I redirect the outgoing links to a page on my site. I basically direct them all to my "No Longer Promoted" page. http://www.sweetbet.com/no-longer-promoted/

I cross convert blacklisted brands to trustworthy casinos and track as such. There's little more satisfying than seeing a new depositing player who visited your site looking to read about one of your blacklist brands

We use negative reviews and redirects.

You might also sell a link on one of those pages or something to a friend who ranks better for those blacklisted sites already *wink* *wink*
