Question What do you think of the new Search Console Reports released in beta?

On the 8th of January 2018 Google announced that it was beginning to release the new beta version of the new search console to all users. The announcement post is here:

Google Webmaster Central Blog: Introducing the new Search Console

There are a variety of enhancements in the new search console. They include:

    • The search performance report now includes 16 months of data to better support year-over-year comparisons
    • An updated Index Coverage report gives you greater insight into the indexing of URLs from your website
    • A new Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) status report that helps you fix errors that prevent your AMP pages from appearing in Google Search results with AMP-specific features

Have you seen the new reports? What do you think of them?

Personally, I have access to the search console for a decent number of the sites we operate, so I've been watching and observing that the rate of rolling out the beta version continues to increase, and at least in my case I now have the option of using the new beta version of the search console for most of my sites.

This is what I have seen for the rollout:

    January 15th - 1 site.
    January 16th - 2 sites.
    January 23rd - 13 sites.
    January 26th - 6 sites
    January 30th - 33 sites.
January 31st - 22 sites (so far today).

Actually, the interface is not bad at all for me.

Really? What is it that you find better than the standard google webmasters tools?
I see nothing except a dumbing down, removal of options, and bigger font.

It's like a "play school" version of the standard console to me ...
Help me to see the benefits in this new format - what is it you like?

I just find the controls easy to use and the interface to me is user friendly. That's all. That's only my opinion though.

The expansion of the date range for keyword analysis is a (small) step in the right direction, still not a patch on the overall functionality via analytics in the pre 'not provided' days mind.

i prefer the old setup.. the only benefit i see here is that it's mobile friendly but know I have to take more steps to see what I want, perhaps it will grow on me

Looks much better but so far i don't see any new features. But i don't really use Search Console, i check the Search Console keywords via Analytics. The only thing i use Search Console for is with a new website to add the sitemap and if i want a page to index a immediately via 'fetch as google'.

Initial thoughts not a fan. Looks like the Google play console account in design. Yet to have a proper play but liked the simplicity of the old design.

Just tried to manually re-submit a sitemap, looks like that's either not possible in the new version or still in development - back to the old version it is then!!

I don't think I have all the features enabled. The only thing I have, and like, is that I can pull data from 16 months instead of just 90 days back. I wish I had an easy way to preserve this data for personal use in future years...

This is it, before the 'not provided' change we could go back and query keyword data historically to our heart's content, shame really as it's purely a barrier to marketing - trying to push everyone to PPC

There wouldn't be any need for PPC advertising if the Search Engine produced accurate results ...
That is Google's business model ... to get it "nearly" right.

The money is not in providing "free search" - it's in getting a vast army of eyes to put advertisers in front of.
What is it now 3 ads at the top and some down the side too? Genius.

    Been that way since 2012.
