Default What not to do as an affiliate manager..

Interested if anyone had a manager do something equally stupid to this (or maybe worse)?

New manager sent out an email to all the clients, over a thousand. Except he sent in a way that everyone can see who he sent it to. Never got spam before, been very careful to keep the address clean.. but now.. well you guessed it. Took 1 hour after he sent it, 5 spam messages!
In this day and age with hackers constantly trying to get you, sending out phishing mail.. what the hell was he thinking. He sent an apology, but to me this is something that can't be forgiven, especially cause he didn't respond to my response.. Can't think of a worse thing he could have done. Isn't that lesson 1 or something when you become a manager?
Might have to create a new email address now and update it everywhere.. at least if the spam continues to worsen. It would take hours, if not a whole day to update it everywhere, plus my whole administration is on this one..

To take this a step further, I think it's recommendable that anyone who works in online business should have a strict policy of revising their emails before sending them out to avoid:
*Sending to the wrong person (outlook autofills are CRAZY)
*Sending confidential information (how many times have I been forwarded an email with confidential info in the thread below)
*Spelling, grammar and other technical mistakes

Too easy to develop bad habits with email that can come back to bite you.

I think Louis is on the right track here...

Email really needs to be used with care - Just because it is easy and fast, doesn't mean that you shouldn't think

Same happened to me recently. Really hundreds of visible email adresses in the mailing. Within the hour I got several promomails from people who wanted to take advantage of this stupid mistake. And it lasted for days.....

Probably the same one. If by hundreds you mean over a thousand.

Luckily the old manager has been very helpful, I sent him the email addresses of the ones sending out the spam. Turns out those belonged to active affiliates. He sent them a warning, and told me to notify him if I get any new ones. He also apologized personally for the new manager's mistakes.

If the new manager had done any of those things I would have felt sorry for him, because that has to be the worst way to start off as a manager. But he didn't, so I told him I didn't want him as my manager any longer.

I goosed up once - but on Skype. I sent a Skype to Jason asking for internal info, and requesting to get one of my admin accounts increased.

Jason replied with some comment like he knew me (which he should.. because we work together) .. and then he asked for my username and password.

And then I realised.. oh oh.. wrong Jason. It was an affiliate named Jason. I felt a little ****** that an affiliate would try and squeeze an admin username and password out of me, when obviously the Skype wasn't meant for him.
