Today I was looking at the data for some of my sites using Google Search Console. One area I looked at was pages indexed.
For today's poll I ask what percent of the URLs on your site known to Google are indexed?
As of today, Google shows that 56,045 URLs it knows about on the GPWA.org site are indexed on Google. By comparison, 128,212 URLs are not indexed. So, for the GPWA website 56,045 of (56,045+128,212) URLs, or 30.4% of the URLs known to Google are indexed.
I'm curious how that compares with what other webmasters see for there sites.
I did take a look at the reasons why different URLs on the GPWA website were not indexed, and Google provided 12 different reasons. I list the six categories with more than 1,000 URLs below:
1) 45,091: Discovered - currently not indexed
2) 42,368: Page with redirect
3) 26,000: Crawled - currently not indexed
4) 6,295: Duplicate without user-selected canonical
5) 4,927: Alternate page with proper canonical tag
6) 1,584: Excluded by 'noindex' tag
Items 1 and 3 above indicate Google decided not to index the pages, at least not yet. The others relate largely to what I consider to be defects in the forum software.
