Default What is a relevant Link?

I have heard the term "relevant link" and I am not sure exectly what that means.
That's like saying a car has "alot" of horse power....well how much is alot?

I hear that we should use social blogs to get the word out but now I hear that doesn't help your Google SEO at all. I know that search engine rankings takes time, no doubt, but what is a relevant link opposed to a non relevant one?

I post to Digg and other social media sites and seem to get a good response from the traffic count survey from my hosting service.

So what is the golden BB?...or is there one?

A relevant link is just that, a link that comes from a relevant source.

For example, lets say you have a site about basketball. You would want either -

A link from another site that is about basketball, or a site that is about sports, but has a specific page about basketball.

Then theres a stack of other variables, such as the pagerank of that particular page, how many EXTERNAL links there are on the page, the trust of that page, where your link is positioned on that page, what the text surrounding your link is etc etc.

In most cases, people will generally just be happy to have a link form a relevant source regardless of other variables.

So would the GPWA and other similar blogs be considered a relevant link by Google? What other catagory of sites would be included in our subspecies?........ the gambling portal

When Hammer stated page rank, do not be fooled by the toolbar pr because that should be at the bottom of the list if it even makes it to the list.

A link from the GPWA is a relevant link, but in reality it is more relevant for those with sites dealing with affiliates.

Like Hammer stated, if you have a basketball site a link back from another basketball site or basketball page is more revelant than one from a casino bonus page....

....but a link from a casino bonus page to a basketball site is more revelant than a link from a hotel site or page.
