Just in short. Are you building your websites with WordPress or with something else?

We have always enjoyed the UI and user-friendliness of building in WordPress, but we wonder if there are any other solutions we should look into.

For better speed, increased user-friendliness, or other reasons?

You can get great results with both WordPress and alternatives, it really depends on how well you're handling things. WordPress can absolutely work, especially if you're careful when choosing plugins and themes, and set up proper caching, SEO, etc.

I've seen a lot of well-positioned WP websites, as well as affiliates who struggle with performance, bloat, and missed updates. That's actually why I built a custom CMS for affiliate sites, to try and address those issues. Not trying to replace WP for everyone, but for people who want something more focused, it can be a good fit.

There are other alternatives besides WordPress (like Wix, which I don’t recommend), but with WordPress you can build a good enough site and get results. However, if you have the resources and can afford it, a custom-made site offers endless possibilities in terms of design, more security, and flexibility.

Wordpress can do the a proper job, but if you're more advanced I'd opt for a custom solutions.

Is Dynomatic's CMS better than WP you think? It's quite costly, being 3000-5000 Euro. Making a WP site would be much much cheaper.

My guys have taken WordPress then customized it to have the features we want ,the first site was $11000 to build but after that we had minimal expenses for each new setup and template. We have one Drupal site too which is easy to manage.

I used Wordpress becasue i had no previous knowldge of how to create and maintain a wedsite.

I purchased a theme for a few hundred pounds, and that got me going. Eventually the theme became out of date and the developer had stopped supportting it, so i had to employ a dev to do the changes necessary to keep it going.

By now my site was ranking well so i didn't want to mess with it any more. I employed someone to do a redesign, and while it looked ok and was responsive, speed wise - accroding to pagespeed it wasn't very good, and has remained that way ever since.

I have no idea if the site was penalised for being slow as there are many ranking factors.

What Wordpress did for me was enable me to create a fully functioning website and allow me to add functionality using Plugins, like geo targetting, which i could have not done by myself.

I guess it worked out as i was able to sell the site - i guess the new owners will fix the legacy tech and design.

What costs were included in the 11k? I feel like it's only a few hundred to install a gambling plug-in, and from there, it's just about content creation. Can you tell me what features bumped up your price?

We had so many features added and they did all design work and they converted all old html pages to w/p . I am very happy with what we got on that front .

Were the features you added not available via a pre-purchased template? I feel like I could get a freelancer to help with website optimization at minimal cost, but then again, it has been awhile.

Do I need to spend 10k+ to get an aff site up and running?

My site had 1300 HTML pages to convert , I am happy with what I have on the one site and since it is custom for us I have 4 sites running it now . I have $300 sites too with just basic out of the box stuff that earn us money.

Definitely WordPress. It makes it easy to get sites up quickly without spending too much, there are plenty of plugins and themes to choose from, and the community support is massive. For me it’s the right balance between ease of use, affordability and flexibility to scale when needed.

In my opinion, it’s better to use HTML sites because they are faster and not overloaded with unnecessary code. This also has a positive effect on SEO and overall performance.
