To Wordpress or not to Wordpress

Wix is a BAD choice, the code created for their pages is horrible, and the site will have almost zero flexibility going forward.

And, what if, for whatever reason you decide to move the site later, you will need a "full rewrite" of the site, content and infrastructure in order to move it. Interesting quote, that is actually hard to find in the kb now, but is quoted dozens of times in many articles about why not to use wix is:

Your Wix site and all of its content is hosted exclusively on Wix’s servers, and cannot be exported elsewhere.

With a wix site, you can not just export it, copy the folder and upload it to ANY other server, it will not work. It must stay on wix server.

A small handful of developers may recommend to use it, there are a lot of reasons not to. A quick google of "reason why you should not use wix for websites" can be eye opening.

And lot of those results may not go in to the difficulties in trying to optimize a wix site. Even the simple things like titles, htags, etc etc are more difficult to get right.

Can a wix site speed development? Maybe. However with a handful of the block editors and a handful the the embedded editors or plugins with many wordpress themes, most people that would have to get over the learning curve of using a wix editor would be far better off just learning how to use one in wordpress.

A custom build needs a higher budget for the site itself and also requires ongoing support from developers. For me, that didn't look like a good strategy since those costs are unlikely to pay off. That’s why I've stuck with WordPress for now. It allows for a quick launch and makes working with content and SEO much easier without unnecessary technical hassle.

I you have dev access (o will to vibe code it) I would highly recommend to use a Static-Site-Generator like Eleventy, with headless CMS like DecapCMS.

Why?
You will pay much less (or nothing depending on volume)
Your site will be really fast (in particular if you host it on "edge" platforms Vercel or Netlify --free up to 100GB)
Maintenance gets simpler (forget about a random plugin breaking your site).

I will write a detailed guide later on the forum. Definitively will need dev skills but it is worth the effort in my opinion.

When I first started building websites, I built them with HTML templates, but unfortunately it required a lot of complex work.

Once I started using WORDPRESS I discovered that it was a much more user-friendly tool and my results improved dramatically.

The goal is to provide a block-based builder and combine the convenience of CMS with speed of static HTML. It's like Shopify for affiliates, but with everything streamlined for affiliate use case, super fast backend and fast generated sites, all site assets hosted on "edge". I hope to ship MVP this year, we will see. Had this idea for 2 years, managed to get a really nice .com domain for this project.

It’s easy to handle, super customizable, safe, fast as hell, and more than good enough for 99% of all iGaming sites.

And of course, first and foremost: the success of a website expecting 100–1000 users a day does not rely on some nerdy tech stack.

Back in years ago, i used to use Wordpress. It was easy to setup and plugins and etc. But now i started making fully custom cms to my project. Why? Because i want to try something different, and all other affiliate sites looks similar. (expecially if they use same worpress theme).
