    Default What is your traffic?

When I was a beginner in this industry I always wondered how much traffic do the average guys or the big guys have and what kind of numbers do you need to be able to convert enough to make a living. I have to admit the question will always be interesting for me, despite having a good idea about how things work now. But I really think beginners would appreciate this topic.

This thread might have come up a million times before (sorry if it did), but I have never seen it it, so here`s the poll. Of course, I think inputs about conversion rate and financial gain would be appreciated.

For me, with my main site (7 months old), about 20.000 uniques monthly (500-1500 per day) and increasing, conversion rate really poor (4-5 signups/month), financial gain just enough to keep me alive, not too much unfortunately for now .

    Per site or in total?

Besides, generalised traffic stats aren't a great indicator of revenue. A tips site may get 10,000 hits a day but deliver less RMP's than a niche site that gets 50 people a day coming from strong converting keywords.

Yes agreed. While I do like to see my traffic increase, the actual total number doesn't mean a whole lot to me. I like to track the keywords and phrases which are used and watch for them to increase. While again not the best why to determine what your conversions will be/should be at least you somewhat tell which keywords/phrases should convert.

Hard to say. I have more than 1 site and don't monitor the number of visitors from all of them. Some get 2-3 per day, while others get 100+

Nice, so how did you bring traffic with long tail SEO tactics?

you must remember that many of the players on casino sites, will register to fun mode, and it's up to the casino
to convert them, however sometimes it's very hard if the player is a "free chip" player and doesn't have motivation.

the idea is to bring quality traffic that you recommend even without playing on fun mode,

Hmm @baldidiot, this would be per website, not all and I'm assuming Unique Visitors? Or is it Visitors? Also, the stats should be from a valid source like Google analytics definitely not Alexa.

Interesting, even though indeed, the quality of the traffic means more than the volume.
I'm operating a site (nothing to do with gambling) that brings more revenue than its sister site getting 10 times more traffic, just because the 1st one brings all its traffic on a keyword saying "purchase xxxxx". Less traffic in the end, but so much more qualified that the conversion rate is just insane.

I was talking about uniques, of course, I should have specified.

When I was starting and had 100 visitors after working my ass off, I was thinking "man, I wonder how many visitors do these big guys have". Of course I agree with everyone that traffic is not everything, not by a long stretch. However, if you are looking at competition, it is a good indicator of what you should aim for.

    My example:
I have a free tips website
The best free tips website makes money, that`s for sure
How many visitors do those guys have? How far away am I?

And of course conversion methods and other details come with experience and work.

I have a free tips website, get less traffic (10,000 uniques) than you, but convert more than yourself if that helps

The most valid source for me is http://wordpress.org/plugins/count-per-day/ because I am glad to work with a Wordpress blog and a paid theme.

It depends. If there are some good football matches or other events then the traffic is much higher. Further it depends on the current promotion. If there is something interesting online then it goes around on facebook and all social media channels. Then of course the traffic increases. I would like to know the pages of the three guys who voted >10000 Cheers!

Do you compare the stats of this plugin vs Google Analytics? Do they match? I see a discrepancy when I compare the two so I prefer to look at Google analytics than the better looking numbers I see on the wordpress plugin (I use the Statpress plugin).

I'm using Piwik to see my stats, it's a very good alternative to Google Analytics and it's open source.
