Hello,
If you don't got your own designer in the team Shutterstock is the way out.
there are some image stock websites to download pics for free. personally I use https://unsplash.com/
images have high quality, but gambling pics choice is pretty poor
There are several online platforms where you can find high-quality sports-related images. Websites such as Unsplash, Pexels, and Pixabay offer free, high-resolution photos that you can use without worrying about copyright issues. Other paid platforms like Shutterstock, Getty Images, or iStock provide an extensive library of professional quality images. However, if you're using images of specific athletes like Messi, you must ensure that the images are licensed for commercial use to avoid copyright infringements. You could also consider hiring a freelance photographer to take custom photos for your website. Lastly, some sports organizations provide press or promotional images that can be used with permission or under certain terms. Always remember to check the licensing agreement of each photo before using it.
It is not just player images you need to be concerned about. Any time specific teams and or games can be identified can also draw attention. Also shots taken inside casinos (sometimes brands identified by the carpet or other floor layout etc).
Does that mean they will? Not necessarily, but be aware it can happen to anyone. And although you can say, well I just added the photo in order to make the point of a general interest article, hard to use that when the article is placed on an affiliate portal.
Overall using stock photos from most of the mentioned sites is probably the safest way to go.

As many others have mentioned in this thread, stock image providers are always a good option. But lately different AI tools have also become a valid option.
Midjourney for example creates pretty good images that you can use. Since recently you can also generate images with ChatGPT - even on their free plan.
Do not forget to add a small note in the description of the image that it has been created by an AI.
You can try Official League or Team Websites: Many sports leagues and teams offer official photos that can be used under certain conditions. Check the terms of use on these websites; sometimes they provide media assets that can be used for editorial purposes.
I've tried free versions but mostly the letters were generated incorrectly, there were errors, so i don't think this is the best choice, maybe the paid option is better.
