Who is using ChatGPT and what is your experience.

I have started to use quite a bit however mainly for research, how to etc, and really enjoying it. Of course ChatGPT can be used for all kinds of great things but for me ... slow steps. lol

Recently bought a new iPhone 16 Max Pro and had to migrate from Android. ChatGPT saved me hours of searching on the internet "how to".

So far so good ... next is to dig deeper into analysis of spreadsheets.

Yeah, I am using it for a lot of things even outside of work.
For example, in a situation where I need to find some information on a government website then compose a formal email referencing those things, etc. - I just let GPT crawl that website find the information I need to supply, then I give that to him, he (or she) composes the email and off it goes. Saves me lots of time.

Helps me with work as well, analyzing large chunks of information / spreadsheets / dumps of customer feedback forms or reviews, etc.

I recently bought a used car - chat GTP was also very helpful at analyzing potential cars I could buy based on what the owner says vs what their service books show.

I use it for summaries and to improve the occassional email. My biggest use is for video descriptions, as I find them a PIA to do. It's also got a basic image enhancer / color grader that I'll use from time to time. Outside of that the novelty has mostly worn off.

Perhaps worth noting...the biggest point here might not be what we do with it (or others), but what the 'normal' people do. Everyone I know (admittedly not a 'lot' but probably representative) who is under the age of 50 would never go to a search engine again. They get their answers/knowledge from AI. And why not, when AI knows everything a search engine knows, and - in a lot of cases - can deliver it better than the SE.

It's possible that many youngsters (the under 20 bracket, let's say) likely already don't even know what 'search engine' means.

I've been using ChatGPT quite a lot, and it’s definitely a powerful tool. However, without prior knowledge of a topic or an understanding of how it works, it can sometimes lead to misleading or inaccurate results, which can actually make things worse.
That said, it's great for generating ideas, summarizing long texts, and conducting research efficiently. It saves a lot of time when sorting through information and structuring content. The key is to fact-check and refine what it provides.

I’ve tried it but don’t see any practical application to what we do at this stage. I’ve asked it who will win a given golf event in the past and the response has been quite basic so I don’t suppose ChatGPT will be tipping any winners just yet.

I have been using ChatGPT for a while now and find it helpful. I am not doing anything too crazy with it, mostly just simple tasks like brainstorming ideas, making sure my writing is correct in English, and practicing my pronunciation in other languages.

However, this weekend I discovered a new feature that I liked. It is called in-depth research. I imagine it can be used for a lot of things, but I used it to compare options and make a decision on a purchase (a pressure washer for my house) when I had no clue where to start. It looks promising.

I use it for copywriting and SEO optimization ideation. For copywriting, you can give it a specific voice to use (e.g., talk like a pirate with a funny sense of humor) and then ask it to write up a review of an operator's website and it will craft a basic review in the voice of a pirate with a lot of dad jokes and puns. Cut and paste that as a post to your website piratecasinoreviews and you're off to the races.

I find it very useful for tasks like filtering, randomizing, cleaning a list, writing basic excel formulas and so on.

Basically the kind of stuff that would take me longer if I did it manually.

Yeah you can't really trust figures and other factual data, need to double check or there are underlying risks which might not be obvious (other than you're potentially giving incorrect info to users and they won't trust you).

And this is possibly more crucial that it might sound, but to what level is hard to gauge. In every niche, or most, there will be specific sites that search engines trust. For whatever reason - the brand, the content, the history, user signals, links etc.

Obviously, they're typically at the top of the SERPs. If you say something factual that conflicts with what they say, even if you're right and they're wrong, there could be negative repercussions. Or, at least, you'll always be behind them, though there are likely nuances involved.

The theory is...become one of those sites...and you can say what you want, true or false. And everyone dances to your tune

Clearly, the underlying basis of this 'preferred sites we trust' concept is why some can publish near garbage or basic nothingness and rank with it.

on the same topic, I've been messing around with chatgpt a lot lately in terms of creating stuff end improving websites and I am very surprized to see what can be done.
For example, I wanted to cryptocurrency price ticker, and chatgpt helped me crate a plugin with a ticker like that which actully works the way I want it to. It's not yet finished, but looks pretty legit for something create by someone (me) with no coding experience at all.

Ah, well I personally don't do a lot of (semi-complex to complex) coding. The stuff I tinker with any of them can do (tables etc). So, a personal view won't be valid.

And, with the pace of development around different models, it'll change almost weekly for the foreseeable future and sometimes every few days (last week, for example, was manic).

But a recent study I saw indicated that Deepseek currently has the edge for coding (over GPT, Claude, and GROK latest models)

I use ChatGPT, mainly for personal searches for information and advice. Its so much quicker to get the information you're after and it's tailored to your question. I fact check the results, but its a huge time saver, without the distraction of ads, popups and the like.

I find i'm using Google less and less.
