Default Why Google is De-Indexing Pages?

    Hi guys,

We have launched a new website in the beginning of September 2010 and all pages of the site were indexed by Google in less than a week. Yesterday I saw that 60% of the content was de-indexed or at least does not appear in Google.

Do you have an idea what could be the problem and how to fix it?

I think it's pretty common for pages to drop in and out of the index - especially for a new site. I know my varies from day to day.

Create an XML sitemap and submit it to google webmaster tools - from there you can track exactly how many pages are in the index.

Gambling Domains: Small clear out of some of the domains we've been hoarding on Dan - see the list here. Prices negotiable, and willing to swap for decent links.

Webmaster tools statistics are inaccurate. The only way to know how many pages are currently indexed is operator "site:domain.com"

I got one website that has sometime 100, sometimes 200 pages indexed. It varies from day to day...

This has been an issue for my site for the last few months too. It had well over 350 pages indexed a few months ago - then it would fluctuate from that many pages to 160ish - then back to everything being indexed.

Then as of a few weeks ago, more than 2/3rds of the site was de-indexed even though Webmaster Tools shows more than 90% of my URL's being in the Web Index out of the 360+ submitted URL's from my sitemap.

Only thing I could think of altering my results is when I 301'd a bunch of pages to shorter and cleaner URL structures. I am wondering if Google saw that as suspicious since 301'ing is sometimes a big red flag to the SE's, possibly because it can be seen as manipulating content or page results? I dunno....been a pain in the ass though

If a number of pages contain similar or partly duplicated content it's not unusual for Google to assume one is more relevant than the others and drop the others. Might account for it, especially on bigger product-driven or database feed sites.

Your site is still VERY new. I wouldn't worry about lost pages/low ranking OR get excited about index pages/good ranking yet.

Give it at LEAST another month before you worry too much about how Google is showing your rankings. They'll likely change lots over coming weeks and months.

It is a bit old but can still explain why part of your site moves from the primary to the secondary index of google.

Truthfully, Google's indexing cannot be trusted these days. With all of the new "features" that they have rolled out, it seems apparent that their indexing and publishing algorithms are all out of whack. Many files are missing, and I believe that they are struggling to get it right.

Guys, thank you for the comments. We have made some changes regarding the site structure and now it looks that most of the pages appear again in the SERP's.

Make sure your Title page name, H1 header, meta, description & content contain the same keywords and they are near the top of the content.

Google has a vast amount of tutorials and if you study them and absorb them you will "feel the force Luke"

Following are the possible causes why Google deindex webpages:
    Duplicate content within the site
    Google Penalty
    Google consider those pages untrusted
    Server problem

They can also be things like: You have some backlinks to your pages. And the site will disappear if the backlinks in google and there. I have tried this before to some new sites. You can find a site with the site: domain.com when there is a reversal of some high PR sites. And he goes, the other day when I can delete all backlinks.

I keep hearing this Google is really tightening its belt. Best option mate is to check your indexability settings which you have probably already done.

Make sure that the Content your placing is fresh unique, unspun, useful, informative, new and above all interesting. Including descriptive titles. target longtail keyword early on.

Remember you domain needs to be trusted its new especially with it being gambling.

Get some certification from trusted sites like GPWA.org do alot of forum posting like 40 posts a day
