Early this week the GPWA editorial team, who have been following up on a compliant by some advantage players, published the results of their investigative research over the past several weeks.

The Revel casino in New Jersey ran a promotion that offered gamblers a refund on cumulative losses between $100 and $100,000 for the month of July. Some clever advantage players saw dollar signs and devised a strategy to come out winners. But, even though the players never violated the rules of the promotion, the casino told the players they were no longer welcome to participate and that their losses would not be refunded.

The players filed a complaint with the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, who will review the complaint and make a decision whether or not Revel can refuse to refund their losses. But the stakes are potentially a lot larger for Revel. New Jersey residents Megan Boyd and Rakeen Henderson are suing the casino in federal court, saying the promotion was deceiving. A pretrial scheduling conference is set for November 14th, with an eventual class action hearing looming on the horizon.
