Default William Hill hit by 'sophisticated' DDoS attack

In case you missed it last week, bookmaker William Hill was forced to reboot its website following a “sophisticated" distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on Nov. 8, causing major problems for customers looking to place a wager on UEFA Champions League action.

The company issued a statement following the attack:

""The online services of William Hill were intermittently impacted during the course of yesterday following distributed denial of service (DDoS) activity by third parties. This follows a significant increase in DDoS activity experienced by a number of online companies over recent weeks. While the attempt at disruption is ongoing our technical teams were able to restore services [Tuesday] night. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers."
You may remember that in August the GPWA/Casino City servers were hit by a similar attack. We posted a poll in August about the attack and would still love to hear about your experiences with DDoS disruptions:

I missed the fact that this had happened but was pleased to accept the £5 free bet as compensation.

Of course, I promptly lost the £5 bet I placed, purely for the benefit of the affiliate community.
